Sled deck on 1/2 ton?

Quite a bit bit of difference between 2 dudes sitting beside each other in a reg cab with their sleds on a deck heading out sledding for the day carrying bare minimum’s compared to 4-6 dudes sitting in a lifted f150 that might as well be sitting on “P� rated tires and dragging a 5-6 place enclosed behind. heavy duty or not at some point we just have to admit we are in over our heads.

Yes the guys with that trailer are in way over their heads with that dangerous setup. I would never drive or ride as a passenger in a set up like that.

Just thought I would point out there are some HD F150 setups that are fine for two sleds. I will throw out a challenge...bring your fully loaded 3/4 or 1 ton diesel short box crew cab down to Fernie and we will drive from Fernie down to the Flathead. We will drive our own vehicles in and then swap for the drive out. Combined highway and FSR.

If you honestly think my truck does not feel stable and has enough power for the job I’ll buy you a 24 of beer. If nothing else maybe we will get a good day of riding.

Is that your truck above? I don't doubt it handles just fine. 5.0?

Yes that’s my truck...had it for just short of 6 years. That picture was taken with a full load...when I was doing my scale checks. Lots of tools, coolers full of water, slider box...lots of weight was added to simulate a real road trip scenario.

Very happy with the 5.0 and the 6 speed. I would/will buy another one if need be.

She pulls great. Cold air intake on the 4.3 makes all the difference.

I like the guy in green poking out from the pump staring at you taking a picture..."chit, this is gonna make the 1/2 ton deck page for sure" haha

Green guy was pumping the gas. 2 other guys running little 5 litre cans back and forth into the trailer.

The situation looked worse in person. It’s like a picture of a steep climb it just doesn’t show the angle the same. Trailer was only 6 inches off the ground at the best of times. Saw them again at the end of the day pulling out of the renshaw parking lot. The trailer was kissing the ground while driving. Would be a big v shaped plow if there was any snow on the ground.

Not mud tires. Pretty low profile

Sleds were pointing backwards at least in the back.

That was awesome! I had to watch that at least a dozen times to verify what I was seeing! They did a great job reversing that video with sound included!

kinda cool how they got the trucks to shake before they put the sleds in them.

and if I would have read the thread I would see somebody else posted this 2 days ago. day late and a dollar short.

When we started discussing this topic years ago, I think we all thought it was going to clean up our highways and smarten up fellow sledders. Instead we just gave everyone ideas on how exactly to overload their trucks past the limit.
