Sled deck on 1/2 ton?

You can get single sled decks as in they dont expand wider for 5' beds which would be legal.......... basically an expensive box cover but on the plus side you dont need your tailgate down, you have ramp storage and still put stuff in the box.

truck boss makes them and you can later make them expandable wider.

ive seen lots of 1500s with decks in sask but generally one sled only.

Some reason a not to be named slednecks rider that has a tundra runs 2 sleds on a deck all over b.c. and has no problems.

I have a F150 with airbags and a marathon truck boss. I can haul my 154" doo and my kids ec340, no extra gear and that's it. I called the Golden scale and asked them if they go by the tire rating or by the door decal. He informed me that they go by the lowest number.

I put this together last year for myself
I have a full bed toolbox that i need to get at so i can hall my sled and still open the endgate
used barn door track and rollers so the front sits in a cradle and just rolls up
gota fine tune it a bit but the principle works great
there is about 4' on the end that hinges down or can be taken off while roading
when the sled is all the way to the top it just it balances almost perfect just a little lift and tips down into the truck and when the endgate is closed it cant go anywhere just strap it down and go
there are 2 brackets it pivots on that bolt to the floor and the side of the box and a couple pins hold the ramp in place its in and out in minutes

Built my own single sled deck to haul my 2014 Summit X 154 in my Ram 1500 Quad cab short box. Works great!

Maybe if the 700lbs of weight savings on the 2015 F-150 get added directly onto the payload you might now be able to............

What's the issue here? I have been through roadblocks with my F150 loaded with two and told it's legal and with my enclosed behind my F350 and it's obviously legal but with 37inch mud grapplers and a lift my 150 stops better and hauls better and the smaller lift and 33's it handles better. I would way rather see a new half ton with two on the deck than half the old junk trucks and homemade junk decks and trailers you see at any staging area, if it's legal according to the DOT I'm pretty sure that's all that matters, register it for the weight, add bags if needed, and let people think what they will, chances are they're mad you have a newer truck, oh and because you have a newer truck and sled don't forget you can't actually ride;)

I suppose those big mud tires have the snowflakes on them or you are dragging around some chains to be legal in BC. Eventually you will run into the right roadside check and your F150 will be towed for being over the legal payload rating.

Is there actual legislation that spells out the "snowflake"? When I looked it said "marketed for use in snow and mud" which is a pretty wide swath of tires

Snowflake on the 33's and being I don't own old junk I don't think they really waste their time when they know the vehicles mechanically sound and probably 100x safer than most on the highway, either way I will continue to run both my setup as they are, never had any issues yet so why change it, the second my vehicle feels unsafe it's more likely driver error, all the talk on here about the safety of others is somewhat asinine IMO, I'm far more concerned with the 15 year old cars and trucks with bald tires on the highway than I ever am by the other people running setups like mine

Really? A 6.5 ft box a glorified grocery getter? Maybe the box on the Avalanche, or Explorer SportTrac. Ya, your sled may hang of the back a bit, but what does that have to do with the payload of the truck?

I just use these reflectors & strap them to track, is this cool haven't been hassled yet or Gould I get lights? If so what Sony guys use ?
