Skidoo bent running board

Hey guys looking for some advise on this. We bent the back of the left running board on a skidoo 850 sp. they are solid to the tunnel. Just trying to figure out if there is a fix or because it’s attached to the tunnel it’s a big deal. Not sure. Debating on making an insurance claim as when I goto sell it this will definitely be a problem or would have to basically give the sled away. For insurance does one take a dealership and let insurance know. Never made a sled claim before. Here are some pics

It’s still rideable but just trying to figure out if it’s worth insurance claim as I may get more than selling it privately

I think a guy could easily massage that back into shape, block of wood and a rubber mallet would be my suggestion.

Couple options, cut the boards off and put aftermarket on. Anchor the sled, attach a come-along, ratcheting chain hoist, even a chain fall to the bent part of the running board and pull on it and massage it into place with some precise hammering.

Use rubber or dead blow, also some strategically placed blocks of woodsome heat might help from a heat gun, but one doesn't want to wreck the paint on it either.

Leave it and ride it.

Pretty sure you have to let insurance know that there is damage, then it would go to the dealer for an adjustment/appraisal of damage. Not sure if the damage would be registered to the Vin# once insurance is notified regardless if you go through with a claim or not. That would be a call for your adjuster.

IF the big hammer doesnt work the outer edge of that board is a replaceble part. Couple hunderd bucks from BRP and some rivets.

Perfect that’s what I was looking for. Upon closer inspection I just realized it was a replaceable part. May try the hammer and block method first. Thanks for your input. Just didn’t want to hurt the main part of the tunnel

If the sled is tied in with your personal vehicles then I would say 'NO' as this may affect your entire policy rating. I always have my sled insured individually.

Also replacement of the part is 'doo able', trying to straighten it will cause weakness and possible breakage now or on the hill when least wanted.

What about blocks of wood and c clamps ? I think then hardly any hammering and won't damage paint. Be like pressing into place.

This plus a bit of heat + dead blow from hammer with a piece of hardwood for salvage (hit the hardwood with the hammer and transfer energy to the board)

I dont think heat is required, wood.clamps and dead blow. imo will straighten up, I have done before as long as no kinks will generally work
