So my dealer GVPS called me yesterday about extending warranty on my 2023 turbo r, never had them call before but there reaching out to remind guys if your warranty is up soon.
My warranty is up November, so I can extend BRP BEST warranty for $2600 for a year or do third party warranty for $3600 for 3 years.
She said warranty prices went up this year which I figured but still thought that was steep . What are guys paying ?

Also is it worth it getting warranty, how are these motors lasting ? My 850 turbo has about 700 kms so Im thinking I should be fine for the next season.

Snowchecks are way down. I have heard of several dealers doing this. The margins can be good, hence the push this year. The topic was discussed at length in this thread.
TLDR; my option and experience is that 850's are reliable for ~5000km with good habits and that paying 50%+ of replacement for insurance isn't worth it.

thanks I actually just found that thread and just finished reading through it, seems it wouldnt be worth that kind of coin for warranty.

What about throwing a top end in at 2500km? That has to be a cheaper option than those warranty prices.

According to my dealer the crank PTO bearing is the Achilles heel of this engine. Not the top end. Around the 3500km mark watch out.

How about the resale consideration! Used are worthless now! Used turbo's are like selling used hand grenades! Not sure if it would contribute enough to overall added value of the machine to justify ??

Not so sure about that….
Buddy here JMCX had issues buying a relatively new low mile turbo R and then had trouble even with the dealer getting the engine fixed on warranty.

I’m thinking the issue is the with where the serial number is manufactured……

There are definitely lemons out there but in general I think most are running alot longer than people think.

everybody has a story or knows of of one lasting forever and/or one blowing up the first day. that's all anecdotal. need the data that brp has.

All the manufacturers have issues. The one that has the least is Yamaha but they are gonzo.

I couldn’t take the risk as the engine goes it can take out the turbo or the opposite. Roughly 13k I’m hearing. Caper11 told me about a policy that Riderz was offering that was $3600 plus gst for 3 year unlimited coverage, no deductible. Not inc wear items, belts, tracks, spark plugs but everything else. No 10 k limit or 5 k per repair. Had to have it completed 30 days prior to my warranty expiring. So I just sqeeezee it in for that. This just gives me more piece of mind and of something happens I don’t have to mess around with wrenches just drop it off and pick it up a short time later. I researched the underwriting company and there were no serious issues.

That’s a good deal. I just paid 1500 to add one year to mine.
