Where is the best place around Edmonton to buy attachments and universal mount plates to build your own?

Auctions seem to be the best.

Brand new mounting plates go for under $100 a lot of times at richies, cost at most dealerships is like $500+ or something stupid. But you do have to know prices, as the odd thing can go for as much if not more then new.

shop around! do your homework! auctions may be good but dont internet bid unless you have looked at the pieces you are bidding on!! for example 3-4 years back at an auction site in nisku...... there was seven quick tach plates there, home made(and poorly) but painted up sold for 400 each!! at the time we had phoned(in advance to bid time) and found out they were worth 260-90 at bobcat new! with bobcat stamping, same bends and made to fit!! the guy who bought the first one took all seven!! $2800 for garage built or $1800-2050 brand name!! i know what i would have bought.......

The sale in April had a bit of everything. The spring sales during breakup are always the best. Dont tell your friends you got a post auger cause you will wear out your skid steer

Pounders are good until you have square posts or really hard ground, also the service on the pounder is high and frequent. Only from experience, I bought a packer and then altered it with a spike for a pilot hole then it can be switched to a cup for vibrating posts in, if your pounding and hit a rock you often bend the post and with square posts they will twist so you need to auger. Augers are cheap and low maintaining.

I have rocky ground on my land. Need to pound steel posts (2 7/8") and lots of them. Can't see needing to pound anything square. Looked at a vibrating rig and looks pretty spendy... I found a like new WorkSaver hyd. pounder with a 3 point hitch. Was told I could try it out before buying. Lined up a 3 point X skid steer adapter. Will pound a few before buying the set up. Just donut think an auger is suited for the rocky terrain?

In rocky terrain you would chew the chit out of the auger teeth very quickly. Probably not the best bet for what you're wanting to do. I can check tomorrow and see what we've got for pounders Darcy and get you pricing on em.

Rocky ground is very hard on auger teeth and there is often some grunt work involved, however if the dirt around the rock is soft they might get pushed to the side or brought up. I just did a 350m chain link fence in glacial till, pretty much concrete, pounder was definatly not a option, was able to auger most but when you come into a big rock I had to dig with the excavator then build a kinda support wall with rocks and dirt from the hole to pour the cement for the posts. Averaged about a 1 hr per hole. Just something to keep in mind. best of luck.

a guy I worked for had a case skid steer with a hoe attachment and it would drag the skid steer around when you hit a rock and there are a lot of rocks here
