I built one too. works great and can be folded up with not in use to close the tail gate. pretty much stays in the truck all winter.

the beavertail allows me to use a one piece 5' ramp that slides under the deck.

Very nice. I was actually thinking of something like that for my new truck. Is that 1" x 2" 1/8 wall box? Any issues with the deck sagging becasue the box is on it's side?

yes, it's all built with 1x2 (think 1/8"). No sagging at all, but most of the weight is on the skis so near the sides anyway. I cut about 8" off the beavertail (it was way too long). loading is still very easy with a 5" ramp.

Ramp built out of the same 1x2. sorry no pictures of it at the moment.

That is one very nice solution you came up with, would love to be able to weld for myself now......
