It's early, I get it, probably a month away. I love the area and if anybody is planning on trying to punch in early I'd be willing to make the trip out.

I may head this way with the sidexside next week to check things out, set up my wall tent for a night.

Snow and cold. Watched the posts last year. Took guys days to punch in past the creek and waterfall.

I have to do some reading to see where ATVs are allowed to be and not. Thinking about taking chainsaw and making sure trail in is open, maybe new flagging in. And maybe someone from GSC can pipe up if they don't want me doing this...... Don't want to cause a scene

You can ride your ATV to the end of the McMurdo FSR and park where you head into the trees. Still a pretty good hike by foot to flag and clear the trail but good on you if you go.

The trail is a old mining road, clear as day in summer. New flagging is always appreciated, place it atleast 6ft from ground. So it can be seen in the winter and wildlife in the area doesn't eat it. As for access, nothing past the clearing for motorized vechicles. And for tree clearing you need a permit, the good old days of dropping stuff are gone... well just don't get caught and keep it clean, your only clearing a hiking trail 4ft wide

Sounds like a decent amount of snow up high in the area. 75cm. I don't see why it wouldn't be possible to make it to the waterfall. After that good luck. The waterfall needs a ton and the other route is way to overgrown with alders until the snowpack gets deep enough

Sorta where you break out of the trees and there's a meadow to the right side, you can cross the creek, and go right and wiggle way through the trees, or stay left back in the trees and run up the waterfall.

Both th ways are pretty fun

thanks for the heads up on tree removal, wouldn't be dropping anything. Would just open trail of windfall had fallen across, chest high sorta stuff. Going to watch weather, if the rain that is being forecast for Tuesday gets heavier, I just may take the sled

Hope your sled has wheels....freezing level is 2000m. End of Mcmurdo road is less that that.

There's a handful of guys trying to push into silent today. I don't know them, hopefully they post up a review

Snow was good today. 2ft of blower and a bit of a base under it. Still lots of landmines out there. I went over the bars 3 times, no carnage tho thanks to a Skid plate and grip & rip bracing. Waterfall isn't punched yet, but soon. Probably 25 sleds up there today,
