Sidewinder turbo heat shield

Yamaha sidewinder heat shield over turbo is this needed as it cracked all the time? Can i just throw it in the lake? Does anybody make one that will last?

Throw it in the lake. I didn't run it for 4 years and never had any issues.

FYI, Yamaha has a updated recall on the heat shield if yours hasn't been done yet.
It applies to the 2017 only.
You will need your VIN if you decide to look into it. It's free to you and they doit.
I have well over 7,000km on mine and still like new.

The reason for the change was the shield would crack.

Mmm ok they told me theres no updated version as i ordered a new one yesterday . Is the new one different like stainless steel of something?

There is an updated version, who you talk too Darren? He is most likely unaware of it and with out your VIN he cannot look it up.
Your new one will be the updated one, I would have them do a VIN check and see if yours was done.
