Hey guys I have both of my quads up for sale currently I am going to be moving into a sxs but it seams overwhelming with what’s out there , where I hoping you guys can help. The basics of what I am looking for are 2 seats, reliably is important , capability . Machine would be used for trail riding out west not a big mud person but it’s important that it’s capable of climbing hills and side hilling with I have to. Seems like there’s lots to choose from out there from can am and Polaris even Yamaha. Wouldn’t be looking to spend more than 20k. Thanks all

Can am and Polaris are going to have more aftermarket parts options. Unless you have a preference or a buddy or an in at a dealership, I would stick with Canam or Polaris. I prefer to stay with the 64 inch wide as more options if you are truly riding tight trails or ATV trails. Wider ones have more stability and ultimately, better suspension. Question is do you want turbo or no turbo? Just need to find one that has been looked after and maintained. Lots to go wrong on a used SxS.

I think whatever I buy I would get an inspection done on it regardless before I bought it. Not interested in a turbo model either just something else to go bad that I wouldn’t need anyway

We bought a used 2021 Can Am maverick sport 1000r 60 inch wide (currently 62 inches with this tire and wheel setup) in April it had 1900 km on it it was filthy and had been used in the mud. Cleaned it up took off the mud bog tires and installed 30" Carnavores. We put another 2600 km on it in the Sicamous BC area with out an issue. Changed the oil in the engine twice and diffs once, changed the belt at 3600 km which probably was the original and still looked fine. This is our first SXS and we were amazed where it would take us no matter what the terrain we had a couple of 200 km days and we had no issues covering that many km on one tank of gas. I would by one of these again.

Check out parkland sled and atv in red deer some good used sxs 20 thousand will not get you a new one the only Polaris sxs for that is a 50 wide 900 trail nice sxs but not a lot of ground clearance

We run a 2019 Wolverine X2. Running 28” Carnivores in the mtns and mud lites in the fall.
We like the sxs. Quiet, comfy compared to the Rhino we had. Power wise, on a sand dune, buddies can am ate us. Two different beasts.
Hunting, “luxury” and still utility wise, it works great.
Aftermarket parts…non existent. No different than on sleds or bikes. No one builds chit for Yamaha. Not a big market. Hence why I think they are losing.

I really like the Japanese products but yeah they are way behind in the off road department. I have a Suzuki and Yamaha atvs currently and they are fine but yeah not a lot of aftermarket support

I'm wondering if you would think about a cab model down the road? They all have there ups and downs but when it comes to aftermarket can am, polaris are where it's at. To me it's like pickups, they're all the same junk these days although polaris has proven it with their shitty bearings
,bushings basically everything I would never own another one ever again. They do have the best ride though! Put a cab and heater in my can am in 2018 and it's been bullet proof.

My suggestion is the Rmax 1000 for the type of riding you described. Biggest reason is the belt drive , hands down best on the market. No more wiggling the machine cause it’s stuck in gear , one more stopping at every little hill or mud hole to shift into low , then again to shift out . Great stock ground clearance or you can go up to 32’s with no lift , better quality than Polaris or CanAm , and there’s getting to be lots of aftermarket doodads for the Rmax. 2 cons, Bit louder in the cab , and no full hard side cab if that’s a factor. Had both the others , now have 3300 kms on the Rmax Sport , no issues , that weren’t caused by me !

Have a look at the Polaris General, I have had 7 different sxs's all styles, We have a ranger now because its used at the farm 90%

If wasn't I would get a general

drove the general 1000 very nice sxs 30 inch tires great power and has a dump box like the ranger little expensive fully loaded

I don't own one and never have but my only advice would be not to buy a wild cat after the stories from people I know that have had them......
We might be talking about the old X Limited
4000 miles on my wildcat xx. . I Drove it like a stole it since new. For the money it’s a good machine. I did blow a motor that was fixed on warranty. But in the last 4 seasons I saved six grand or more on a arm bushings and wheel bearings every 1000km. Brand new wildcat XX is under 30 grand is a great buy with five-year extended warranty.

From what I understand the 1000's were junk but the 700 trails were really good machines.

I am an Arctic Cat fan, but for $30g, buy a new Polaris Pro XP or a Canam Turbo RR. Solid machines, turbos, and lots and lots of aftermarket options. More power and more suspension.
