15000 on original pistons, man I would be nervous every time I rode that no matter what brand. Pushing it there a little, no?
I think, like everything, some get a good one and some get a lemon, search anything, find guys who love their........and some guys who would never buy that POS again, way to many factors. Just hope YOU got a good one.

I don't own one that mileage. One of the local guides here had one last year.

So, I am not a mechanic, but when you say it is time to switch them out, what all is involved? New pistons and rings, that's it? Or what else....?
At 10,000k + might wanna look at a complete rebuild. But there is no reason they should only last 2000k, it happens tho, some times you get unlucky,, or start modding the thing.

I ride hard on my sleds, Most have a hard time keeping up with me even when I'm doubling. I run the best oil and 91 octane fuel. Just before my engine blew I had ran her hard with wife on, braking trail in fresh powder. Still shouldn't have piled up at 1753 km.

I'm sure most of you do know that most sled's sold in Canada are preset in kilometers and not Miles, so the actual miles you have are actually alot less then what you think.
Unless of course you reprogramed/reset it to miles, as most of you grew up with kilometer's, why would you want to change over to miles??????. Eitherway make sure you read your meter correctly.

Example 2,400 km is actually 1,491 miles........IF Tex is misreading the odometer, not saying he is though, but there is a BIG difference.

I have 2 2013 XMs both came in miles from the factory as I was there when they were uncrated. It is a simple setting on Buds to change them over but I've never really cared to as it doesn't really matter not like there's speed limits I need to follow or any anything. Plus on my turbo sled I need to add an additional 6% because of larger drivers so it really doesn't matter... it'll never be right!

Also for resale I would rather have a lower number... subconsciously 1500 MI sounds better than 2400km.

I uncrated and PDI'd my own sled after hours at the dealer, set up a video camera on a tripod and recorded from start to finish lol. was something I always wanted to do....I have a decent relationship with my dealer, he was cool with it. I can honestly say no one there has ever touched my sled other than to program me a spare DESS key, they even let me do my own warranty recall work on the driveshaft etc, as well as the new shortblock and still gave me the full one year warranty.

Yes its true there are many sled's running around with different odometer setting's, it is part of the PDI that you pay your dealer to do. That's why i said in my post to make sure your reading it correctly.
As for the correct setting, the dealer during their PDI is suppose to set it for you in kilometers for sleds sold in Canada. But many don't as most are quickly pushed through with little done to them other then decrate and assembled by a $13/hr paperbag gopher. Paperwork checked and signed by a tech that spent less then 60sec. looking at it. This is especialy true here in the west, PDI's imo are a joke the way some dealer's go about it and a fine example of it is teeroy's post.

I could have let them do it, but I probably know a lot more about sleds than the monkeys in the back most dealers let put them together. I don't understand why you would see that as a slight against my dealer. their "techs" do the important mechanical work and the $12/hr flunkies do all the easy stuff, I'm sure it's the same at every dealer. I'm kind of proud of the fact no one else has ever turned a wrench on my sled other than myself.

I actually completely agree with you, because of the fact the dealer's pocket your PDI money in exchange for a PDI generally done by an inexperience guy.
When you pay the money you would expect to get the "certified tech" doing the checks and making sure all is up to snuff. But that just isn't the case.
If i could, i would keep my PDI money in my pocket and assemble the sled my self also. Then bring it in and have the tech peek at it and sign off.

Here is an experience i had this summer after my purchase of a new 2013 RZR.
I took delivery of it and went out for a ride. Got back and the motor valve cover was covered in oil and the air filter bottom was full of oil. After a wash i checked it over and found the motor was nearly 1/2liter over filled and the valve cover breather bolts were loose. But it got PDI'ed or atleast i paid for that.
I would of gladly taken the RZR and done the inspection myself if i would of known.
