Chad was in the bay beside our buisness, we would walk back and forth and chat about sledding and such, he was a great guy and even though I only knew him for a short time I am very sad and he will be missed. I hope there is bluebird skys and 4 feet of snow in heaven everyday my friend. R.I.P.

I know this is a very old thread but when I came down Quest today a couple was at the trailhead and they asked me how far to the cabin and if there is a memorial plaque there. These are the parents of Chad and I spent time talking with them. Wonderful people from Manitoba looking to see what their son loved about riding here and I suspect some closure. I think they thought the cabin was at the trailhead and we're hoping to see it.

I have committed to get them some photos of the area, the cabin and the plaque on the door with their sons name on it and send to them. Next sunny day I will get some shots. Can any one point me to the general area the accident took place. I believe right along the trail heading out to North Quest?

Thanks for taking both the effort and the time to talk to them, resurrect this thread and collect some photos for them. Hopefully it will give them what they are looking for. It should also showcase to others, how long this tragedy has affected them (and likely other family and friends as well) and serve as a solemn reminder to other sledders about the risks and decisions we face when riding. Great work.

ride safe everyone.

We spent about an hour with them, my son and I. My son is about the same age their son was. The conversation had a great impact on both of us and I can only imagine what it is like for them and those involved. They have never had any contact from anyone involved and have only been able to learn what they know about what happened from a journalist. Hopefully the photos help them.

That is surprising to hear Chads parents didn't have many details of what happened. I thought he was riding with some relatives and friends from Manitoba on the day of the slide. Anyways thanks for getting the pictures bobsledder. Chad was a great guy and truly loved sledding.
