I'm looking at buying a "new" sled as per the title. It's got 1600 km and a rebuilt engine. They are asking $4600.

Is the price good or bad? Should I go for this sled or try to get something better for more cash? What should I look for when viewing the sled?

Thanks in advance

I agree if you're convinced on doo $6k will get an ok XM. If you're stuck at $4k get a 2010/2011 cat m8.

Had an 08 summit and found it hard to handle and throw around. Went to a 2010 cat and was easier to toss around then got a 2013 summit with a 154 and wholly cow what a difference in handling a lot more fun to ride. I am not a super experienced rider and found t motion awesome but if budget is there I think u would have more fun on the cat. I did. Just my opinion

08 has the 38" front end, no t motion in the skid and possibly the 2.25" cheese grater track. a lot was improved in the XP to 2012 and the XM stuff basically all bolts on as well.

I would also look for a xm. But that being said I loved my 09 summit hill climb edition. I put work into it to make it go but that was the funnest sled I owned

who rebuilt the engine? id do a compression test, look at bulkhead and tunnel for straigtness, look at track for tears or damaged lugs, etc. on a older year sled usually looking for damage but this unit for its year is very low mileage. even though low mileage its like anything its how its been treated or maintained. for the year the price seems high imo

I sold my 2010 XP 154" in mint condition with 5400 kms back in 2015 for $4600.00 Including S-36 front end and T motion. Save your money and pick yourself up a clean XM. You won't regret it.

Ok, it's a very easy decision to pass on this one after reading all the replies!
For the guys that offered sleds for sale my only criteria for the sled is a max 146", preferably 137", I'm in Yellowknife and although there are lots of guys with 154 and 163 sleds here I think it takes away from the fun factor when you get so long. Our snow is nothing like the mountains.
Thanks for the help!

It was too light, sh! T broke so they started to add some weight back in to put strength back

I have a 163 09 Summit X, I put t S-36 front end on it, T-motion, flex track, just put brand new motor in it, cleaned/rebuilt clutches etc, etc. I also have an 800 XM 163, and I know that I will get butchered for this, but I love riding the XP over the XM. So I wouldn't worry about everybody saying "Get an XM for this or that." If you like the XP then find a good one, there are still lots out there, and go for it. As for the 163 being too long, I had 151 and 154 tracks for years and did not notice a difference in handling with the 163 and it gives you that extra track on the days you need it. JMO

You guys is crazy

What was better??

I like my 07 Rev 800r better than my 10 xpx buffalo, it had more power and I had 12000 km of dial in time lol

After a lot of work too a lot to get the Xp even close, but it was a great machine as far as reliability

But my xm blows the side panels off both of them in every aspect....

Just sold an 06 rev for 2300. Tired of it being in the way. You are right these guys are crazy. Why would anyone want a carbed engine? plus all the chassis improvements the xm has over the Xp
