Alright here is a picture of the truck in question.
IMG_5815.jpg

Here's the thing. the truck is now paid for, and I have about $4500 worth of mods into it, But I want to have a short box truck. Anybody know how hard this would be to accomplish?
I know i'll have to get a shorter drive shaft, brake lines, electrical and stuff like that. But what about the fuel tank? Will that have to be moved? It will probably be a winter project for this next year. (need to find a box yet).

What are your thoughts on this? Looking for advice, criticism if you feel you must, but ultimately, help. :d

Thanks in advance guys!

Future plans also include either swapping in a 6.1 HEMI, or putting some kind of forced induction on it.

I would sell it or trade it, and get the truck in the platform You want, and then go from there. the money saved in time and the conversion would be quite substantial. its the little things that get ya in the pocket book, and that money could be spent on more mods. :d
Sweet truck BTW

But I will never get the money for all my mods back. And its my first truck, so it has some sentimental value too. I have thought about trading it, But besides the exhaust, I've done all the work on it myself.

BTW Thanks.

Keep your rims and tires, and whatever else you can return to stock. there's half your 4500, haha.
I know sentiment, been down that road. I can also relate to your plight. All my trucks become love affairs. But hacking two feet off your truck may cause more problems with value/ resale/ registration for the next owner and you as a seller. A replacement box wont be cheap, then paint and all that frame work. By the time your done you'll have spent enough to buy another truck easy. So unless you plan on keepin her for the long haul, like heirloom long. i would refer to my first post. just a bad investment.

The $4500 is not counting visiual mod. Thats all engine and exhaust.

I dunno. Maybe I should just leave it as a long box, and keep modding it.

What about finding a shorty and swapping motors and mods over then sell this one? That way the labor would be way less and you can keep all the goodies.

You realize of course that as soon as you modify your long box to a short box you will wish you hadn't. My first truck was a long box and I thought that a short box was what I really wanted, but in reality they are kinda usless. I finally got a new truck( new to me) and I made sure that I got a long box. However I do a have a nice brushed aluminum storage box behind the cab which gives the appearance of a short box.:twocents:
P.S. When you have a 10 foot sled in a 6 foot box gets kinda tricky:rolleyes:

slap on an extend cab and a short box.............or find what you want, even if it has a blown motor/trans or is just the frame and body,no running gear and swap everything over. $4500 is peanuts for $$ invested in a truck,I know guys with more $$ in bling on there rides.

Sentimental attachment with a truck is like your first sexual experience,.. another will come along to take her place ;)

Unless you are going to go long term and marry it,.. IMO start over.

Trucks are money pits, you might as well start from the beginning and build it for a long term investment with no return but satisfaction.
