Any recommendations on a shop here in okanagan to rebuild or swap in a reman engine for my 08 f250 6.4. At dealer now in vernon as just have in for diagnostics and from talking to service it sounds like it is done. Going in today to get the full info on issues. No contribution in cylinder 2 and if i recall a 6% below normall compression in cylinder 8. Also showing blow by when tested. Still manual compression test to br done to confirm but cant get it in till mid week to do

Thanks

You may want to really crunch the numbers on this, I know several who have done engine swaps and rarely are they done for less than 15K. For a complete engine installed. After was all said and done I think they all wish they had not done it.

I've played this scenario over in my head a thousand times with my 09 f350.
If you have a 15k budget to do this go all in a do a cummins conversion and run the truck for another 10 years in style..

This. 08 F250 with a failed 6.4 just walk away and start fresh.

I should find out tomorrow 100% if it needs motor or just injectors. If its the motor I'm going to get into another truck and get rid of this POS.

Amazing it lasted this long. There may be more old 7.3's roaming around still than those 6.4 time bombs.

blowby is easily confirmed by removing the oil fill cap, if its releasing pressure.. game over..

I have a 2010 F-550 service truck with the 6.4L. 240 000 kms so far. Only issue I had with the engine was I had to replace one injector and the water pump housing. Other than that, just oil, air and fuel filters.

I was at the auction a few years ago checking out the trucks that were idling, waiting their turn to go through. Real nice Lariat 6.4 getting checked out by people when for no reason at all the engine goes from purring like a kitten to making this horrendous noise. It was like eight guys were wailing on the block with sledge hammers. Everyone ran for their lives lol. I guess we know why it went to auction.

What mine does after idle for a bit. Runs fine as long as it doesnt sit at idle for to long.
