I just bought a 19' toyhauler off CrankyApe.com from their Arizona City location. Any advice on good shipping companies to get it to the border?

C/A has several shipping references I'm looking into but would be nice to hear from someone with firsthand experience.

Another option is just drive down and pick it up seeing as I have the next few weeks off.

I would just drive down and get it. Shipping would negate any advantage of buying south of the border. My neighbor just got back from South Dakota with his and said it was a simple process.

CrankyApe shipping estimator was showing around $1k, for this amount I will consider shipping as I'll probably spend this in fuel, hotels and meals. The only actual quote I've received is for $2k so for this much I'll probably drive down.

I would load up the wife and kids, and head down to pick it up. Either way, it is going to cost you roughly $1000 to get it to the border, so why not make a holiday out of it, and see some sights, instead of paying somebody else to see them.

Problem solved, I will pay the $1000, and lend you a wife and 2 kids. Have a happy trip, we'll see you in a couple weeks!!

I know some guys that have bought a few things from Cranky ape AZ and Minnesota but they picked them up. Although be prepared to change some tires and fix some brake light wiring, seems to be a common problem when you pick it up.

There is a retired operator from our plant who keeps busy, doing stuff like that. You pay his gas, food etc and he will go down and pick it up for you. Been alot of guys at work getting him to do stuff. Works out great for him he gets to travel cheap and you get your deal on a trailer.
I will double check to see if he is busy, I know he helps some of the local farmers with seeding etc.

Thanks all for the suggestions but don't go out of your way to help now because I'm 80% decided to drive down there. My buddy may come with and we'll take our dirt bikes to Moab for something completely different

I have driven to Phoenix and back on several occasions. Total cost of food, fuel, hotel runs about $1,000.00 round trip. It can be done for less.

Total driving time one way is approx 24 hours with good weather.

Ship it to the border for $1,000.00 with out a question! That's 4500km round trip from the border, if you can get it for that it's a smoking deal. Figure 600kms to a tank = 9 tanks + Hotel + Food + Oil change when you get back. It's just not worth your time. Stay home have a beer run to the border and back 1200km round trip and enjoy your trailer! Just my thoughts!
BTW Nice buy on the trailer:ThumbsupMsn:

Too late I already own it! Hope there's no damage but I'm taking that into account for the price I got it for. It looks good in the photos, biggest risk is probably leaking roof.

Thanks, did you see this particular auction?

You Betcha! I've been a Crank Ape fan for years! It first started out as MRC Auctions. You really have to be careful off the junk, but lots of good stuff too! Your unit looked Sweet! Happy Camping
