Three snowmobilers fell through ice on salmon river one rescued two still missing. Vey thin ice this winter no cold weather lots running water hope they all make it out alright.
Prince George, B.C.- Prince George Search and Rescue personnel expect to continue searching the banks of the Salmon River until about midnight, as they look for two people who went through the ice on the river late this afternoon.
Three people went through the ice around 4:30 this afternoon, one was rescued, two others are still missing.
Prince George Search and Rescue has been on the scene since shortly after the incident was reported. A helicopter offered air support, but still no sign of the two.
Search teams are combing the shoreline east of Highway 97 through to the railway bridge.
RCMP say members of the public who have arrived on scene are asked to stay clear of the river as the ice is not safe, and the Search and Rescue people are properly trained to deal with situations like this. There are concerns that while well intentioned, those members of the public accessing the area may be putting themselves in great danger.
If the search this evening fails to find the two missing persons, the search will resume at first daylight
The two missing are both residents of Price George, they were part of a snowmobiling group, one rider tried to cross the river, but went through the ice,two others went into the water to rescue him,but only one got out
