Seafoam in a Allison Automatic, Duramax or Tractors??

Anyone tried Seafoam in their Allison tranny? Would you try it before a flush? Whats the best way to clean out a Durmax fuel system? Anyone use it in farm tractors? Thanks for the help

Never used the sea foam trans stuff


But sea foam in diesels yes , best stuff ever used

If u have some sticking injectors, best thing is the gm upper cleaner, mixed in 20 jerry can, and hoses to jerry can to run truck

Most recommend to NOT flush an Allison transmission, Flushing can cause lodged debris within the transmission to break loose causing it to be run through the transmission itself which can cause more harm then good. A simple transmission pan drain and refill with spin-on filter replacement is generally all that is required, if the fluid is really dark then repeat this process after driving the vehicle for a while.

As for fuel treatment try Stanadyne, I believe they are the only aftermarket fuel conditioner approved by GM for use in the Duramax. But many others will work, just keep away from additives that contain alcohol, as they emulsify water which can cause fuel system corrosion.

Don't put seafoam in the trans. Also don't flush it. Change the spin on and oil as needed don't forget to swap the magnet on the spin on over to the new filter.
Don't flush for reasons mentioned above - the trim valves will not like it.
Seafoam in everything else is ok. Even the engine oil.

I've used Stanadyne on and off for years. My 6.5 wouldn't run without it. I am thinking about a fuel system flush because it seems everything is losing power or acting like it is getting clogged. I have been blaming it on the shitty diesel all fall and winter. I have been adding cetane boost to semi and duramax and it seemed to help a little but.... I really like paying premium diesel prices but getting substandard performance.

I really appreciate the tip on not using the Seafoam tranny flush. I thought if I were to try the product I might as well try the whole shabang.

I have also heard that Amsoil makes a good fuel conditioner and synthetic tranny fluid. I WON'T used anything but Interceptor in my sled.

I had a client with a old 6.9 ford, tried everything and I mean everything to get it to run good

Sea foam was the only one he had work
It would be good for a few tanks then back to no good

So he added a 1/2 a can to every tank

Never ran better

If you were closer i would show you the best way you can possibly clean your injection system. Show you the injector balances before and after with EFI Live. As tex said it's the GM Upper Engine Cleaner. I have done it to my truck once a year and it keeps my injectors in spec all the time, with over 380,000km on them. Doesn't even smoke at idle. I also use diesel kleen and lucas fuel treatment in every other tank.

For flushing your allison transmission, you can disonnect the cooler line at the cooler by your radiator, put any kind of hose(i go to rona and get the clear tubing it's dirt cheap and you can see the color of the fluid) on the end of the cooler line, put the end of the clear hose into a container which you have TWO of exactly the same that are under 2 liters, start the truck, it will pump the used fluid into the container, shut it off when it gets full, then fill the new container with fresh fluid and top it up, do this until the fluid comes out fresh and doesn't stink. Allison doesn't recommend changing your internal filter, just the spin on filter.

For us on the farm we haven't really added anything to the fuel, would be smart to be out there when husky comes out to top up the tanks to add a bunch of it to the tank so when it fills it all mixes it up.

I am kind of hesitant to use seafoam as it is a drying agent, and dries seals supposedly.
