We use the Frankensled saws, both the folding, and the larger one that my husband mounts on his sled. I'd been asking for a Machete for Christmas forever.. and this year... I not only got a machete... I got 2!! One from husband and one from the kids.. the smaller machete I pack in my tunnel bag, and my folding Frankensled is on my back... I'm relishing the moment I get to use my machete hehehehehe.

Haha, those look like a couple of Cutlasses (pirate swords)

You must be planning to ravish some poor innocent sledders on the trail for treasures...i think i'll stay away from you.

But Just think... If a Zombie Apocalypse happened.. and the zombie gene thing mutated and flying squirrels became zombies .... I'd totally have your back.

When it comes to carry saw's for sledding i carry two types. The common 7" pruning folding saw like pictured. I carry two of these, one in each sleds and they are my first go to saw for most occasions.
I also carry a take down buck saw for more serious cutting. It will cut tremendously faster then the pruners and much bigger. Though it's not used very often, actually rarely but nice to have in case.
The picture with the pack the shovel handle can clearly be seen, the other is the buck saw.

I just want to mention also with the saw the blade will tend to stick in the right condition's.
So i carry in my kit wax, you can use it as a candle if needed but also lube the blade on the saw.
I generally open up the saws after a day or two on the hills to dry them, i also wax the blades every time. They work well this way.

With all your experience Darcy, that must be sarcasm?

The saw in the shovel handles work good for what they are designed for; cutting snow. How many times have you seen someone with a broken one?
It's not a shovel handle saw, straight 40cm snow saw and man it cuts logs better than any hand saw I've use.

I use a Stihl pruning saw that fits nicely in my back pack. Not the folding one but the one that is about 40 cm long and it comes with it's own case. I used to rivet the case to the tunnel for easier access but I lost a couple over the years. The saw is very sharp and quite strong and idea for cutting branches and trunks.

I have the same saw.
