should I ask the all-knowledgeable forum about the road conditions?

We will travelling in 3 provinces, over 1 mountain pass, through the Cypress Hills, and endless miles of wind blown prairie. Will my all season radials be good enough? I will have a sled on board for weight on the back end and if I end up in the ditch it will be our ticket to somewhere warm with refreshments. Now why would I say that, "that awesome 6.2 and 18" tires with the 4 wheel drive has never been stuck). I will have chains in one of the water-proof tool boxes and that should get out of most places.

Your thoughts and opinions are welcomed........

PS Joey, with all your experience, I would appreciate your comments as you have lots of recent insight.

I think the tires are the last thing I would worry about on a long distance trip in a Ford! hahahahaha....if you're bringing one sled on the back...who gets it in case of an emergency..you or Bev? See you Saturday

Now you watch those Ford comments.............I forgot to put this in the OP, I have a good pusher also!

That XM will easily hold the two of us, if the need arises.

Did the powder coating guy come through?

We came through from the park on Sunday when it was snowing and I can tell you on Sunday that the roads were wet but not freezing by the time you go through they should be bare and dry! Safe travels to you and Bev!!! Jan

Cypress, Swift Current area is not great right now, icy roads. But with the warm weather this week they should be good in a day or two.
Why are you going through Cypress?

Why are you going through Cypress?

Cause, over the years, I have found that it is the fastest way. Highway 3 to The Hat, TC to Speedy Creek, #4 to Rosetown, and then to Saskatoon.

Set the cruise at 120 nearly all the way from Ft. MacLeod to Speedy Creek (a little slower west of The Hat for a ways).

That would be the way I'd go, Cypress is a bit south of #1 and can sometimes be quite a bit different driving conditions. Unless something drasitcally changes in the forecast you should be good all the way. As long as we don't get what happened last year.

Negative on the powdercoating....just talked with him...he's so backed up right now I'm told...figures next week it'll be ready...said no chance this week. I was hoping to bring it up to the show this week for you to take back...I"ll have to send it out your way when I get it.

FS, every time I've ever gone from Saskatoon to Medicine Hat I've always taken:
https://maps.google.ca/maps?saddr=medicine+hat,+ab&daddr=saskatoon&hl=en&ll=50.830228,-107.946167&spn=3.53233,8.453979&sll=51.081318,-108.662699&sspn=2.964291,5.910645&geocode=FeWO-wIdNjZn-SkX1Pk9ViwTUzE_R4AyjF5mEw%3BFeKBGwMdmK-k-Skrme1Hv_YEUzGQJneVMp4EBQ&mra=ls&t=m&z=8

It's better than going through Speedy. I've gone that route also when I had to stop in Speedy and it confirmed that the Alsask route is better.

You have a place to stay here in Saskabush?

I have done that route and the less time one can spend on highway #7 the better, IMHO. Highway #4 is pretty good for no radar and Rosetown to Saskatoon can't be helped.

Thanks for the offer but we have a son and 5 grand children in Saskatoon and he does have lots of room.

Drop into the booth and introduce yourself. We'll set you up for a mountain "take a friend snowmobiling" trip..........:d

This thread was supposed to be a funny take-off from Joey's road trip.............but I guess all you dudes thought I was serious!

The drive will be no problem and I am fully aware of the constant weather changes over a distance that we travel.........:d

I thought it was funny worrying about sask roads lol. Piece if cake compared to b.c. Only driven once on a skating rink highway. Doubled my travel time.

Most dangerous winter conditions on the flatlands involve lots of snow falling and on the road for a white-out affect, especially when semis get involved and block a huge chunk of vision.
