When I did ours I cut the 3 seperate holes. Then make the stacks come out just a bit more then the top of the box. Then use rubber couplers to extend the stacks. The couplers cover the holes and makes it easy to take everything apart if you need to get the box off.

I have couplers right inside the box so I can take the spouts off to remove the box if needed.
