Just want to send a shout out to Mike & Loren at Battery Direct in Calgary. My RV batteries crapped the bed after a winter of neglect and malnourishment and these guys were super helpful in evaluating the batteries and getting me back in business. Excellent pricing and no attempt to upsell as well. Will definitely be a repeat customer.:beer:

Not bad.
Good choice on the 6v. I don't know why anyone wastes time with 12v single batteries in a trailer. So dumb. Usually the same folks with the woodchipper sounding generator that they have to run all night!!

I am in the decision making process on the batteries. We recently picked up a used A class and one cell in one of the deep cycles has seemed to failed. I agree with the 6v idea, but my main concern is starting the gen. I'm not sure what the amp draw is on smaller starters. The generator is a 7000 kohler. (23hp old cast iron kohler). There just seems to be a large cut in cranking amp rating. Alternately, I'm pretty sure I can squeeze 2 type 31 12v in there as well. Either way it might take a little work. LoL. Is my concern on the 6v golf cart batteries justified?

2 6 volts will have no problem starting your gen, remember they will be hooked in series to they will be putting out 12V too

I need to replace my battery in my trailer too. Can anyone suggest a brand, bussiness in Edmonton area, amps rating, ect to a person that knows little on this?

You could start with a call to Interstate Batteries they are generally pretty good to deal with.

Interstate are pretty good batteries. I bought 2 new ones this year,,there more money but will last longer than the chitty Cambodian tire brand.Any RV shop will set you up with the correct size

Do not put 12v batteries in. They are very poor in an RV. Run 2 6v. The trick is to start your gen before the batteries go dead. I have an isolated 12v behind the 6's to boost the gen, should they run too low.

And that's my idea too. Was going to do that.

But found out my Convertor wasn't puting out to charge the 6v's up...

Haven't had a issue since. Allways have enough power to start genny for morning coffee.

Run 2 6 volt battery's and a 140 watt solar panel. 1500 watt invertor to watch tv and movies. Generator is not used very often.
