Last night when I went work there was a bad accident just outside Red Deer- guy had hit a bridge and sheared his truck in half. He followed me to the Emergency Room via ambulance. Leaving this morning was no better... bad accident in Blackfalds, car accidents rolling into ER left and right, and cars in the ditch everywhere on the road home. Play safe out there!!

One of my employees was to head down from Edmonton this morning. He called at 8:30 and we discussed the road conditions. Told him not to come and stay off the slick roads. Then I got the news of this a short time later. Very very sad to hear. Prayers and condolences to the families, and for the little brother who has lost his sisters and father.

Grade level crossings suck, and it always seems that bad things happen when the snow is flying like this. I recall the same thing happening north of Strathmore just a year ago in the same type of conditions.

Very sad. But something seems fishy. The visability was pretty good, I was on 16 at around 9 this morning, yea the roads weren't great but something doesn't make sense.

Very sad indeed. Really feel for the engineers of the train though, that would be tough to live with.

That crossing isn't bad though, cross it twice a day atleast most of the time.

That is sad...I know we all need to be accountable for our actions but....the way some of our intersections and crossings are planned is a joke. Our planners need to start thinking of the future and get their heads outta the sand...make a freakin overpass so the traffic can go over the train instead of tying up traffic....way safer and that crossing is only getting busier all the time....not just there but everywhere....keep up with the times Alberta....plan our roads for the future...get pro-active instead of re-active. We also build at a snails pace....by the time chit is built ...its already too small or overloaded by the time it comes on-line....
