Now thats a good one? Never heard of it. Just crank issues. There were a lot of updates on that engine.:(

If you know that the updates were done it is problably ok. I just put an new engine in mine but it was expensive because I opted to go with a modified crank. The clutch had to be taper cut to fit the oversized pto shaft. :d With air kit and can> 171hp:eek:

Do your self a favor and buy something else. These sleds are high maintenance and very expensive to keep running.

I had one for two years. Spent thousands of dollars on trying to make it work right and after the crank snapped off at 1800 miles I decided to sell it. If your a mechanic and like to fix stuff all the time then go ahead and buy it. But I would recommend a spare sled so you can still ride when it's in the shop.

Yes. Do yourself a favour and look at something else. I had 2 of them and had motor mounts break and the crank pile up at the worst time possible. They are heavy and dont pull as well as they should for a 900.

Had an 05 that had a lot of recalls.Once the recalls were taken care of,i had no issues at all with it.Had to spend some money on it to make it pull like a 900 but never left me on the hill.As for crank issues,i was running nos and was pretty steady on the button and never broke anything. If you can get one for cheap and dump a couple grand in to it,it s not a bad machine.:beer:

3000 miles and zero problems. going to do pistons next week just as maintenance. just changed the last belt after 1500 miles. they are a great sled. better than the 800's last year lol. saw a few 900 doing the pulling lol. if you can find one for a good price buy it. every sled has its problems!

bought mine new in 06. stock it pulled good, rode good, but felt a little heavy. ONLY issue i had was blown belts due to to much heat. put a vent kit in an flawless. ive modded it in the past two years so not stock nemore but still awsome sled. i would buy another 06! 05's had sum probs wit cranks and more updates. but its like nethn....dont buy it the first year it comes out. rule of thumb. alot of ppl that dont have these sleds like to comment cuz they "heard" stories etc. but talk to ppl that have owned these sleds.

Had one and I do all the wrenching on my gear. Had to do a number of upgrades to make it work, and yes I had a crank failure. That said, it is a VERY strong sled when it's set up right. There are fixes for ALL the issues, some are expensive, but they work. If you are willing to spend the time and money on this machine they flat out rip and are hard to beat. My riding partners have a number of different sleds including M1, 800 XP's, 800 Polaris's and in my opinion the 900 was the strongest all around (mine was a 166") The M1 was very similar in handling and power and was an equal competitor in my opinion, but I would take the 900 over everything else.
