ive never rode in the west castle area just wondering what its like terrain wise heard there was fair bit of snow any info would be awsome thanx and it is a lot closer than fernie witch is the norn but who does'nt like new country

The 2 most common rides in the "Westcastle: area are the middle Kootenay pass which stages just barely past the Castle Ski Hill Castle Mountain - Castle Mountain and the Carbondale area which stages about 10km before the ski hill. The last heard the Kootenay pass needed more snow. It is rarely good early. Carbondale doesn't need quite as much snow as it isn't as doesn't get blown off like the pass.

You forgot South Castle, up over Font mountain and down into FH valley, a good ride but like all riding down there you have to go into the valley bottoms. Low snow and big rocks. Carbondale can be bad as well, one write off in there already this year.

Thanks for the info. Have staged at the Carbondale area before but never at the Castle Ski Hill.

Got a fair bit of fresh in the Castle area a few days ago but still a lot of land mines with poor or no base. Trails are good but watch for open creeks etc. Snow was deep enough towards Lost Lake that there were 1/2 a dozen sleds stuck at one time trying to make their way in to the bowls the other day.

i just heard theres some nice pipelines to ride if youy leave from blairmore whats the snow like and whats the best way to get there??

Had some friends ride Fernie while we road the Carbondale area 3 days ago, sounds like Fernie has a more snow.
