$#@% Matt....forgot all about you....lol...anyways.the Pipeline is likely better riding for a newer rider...castle can be a challenge if you are nervous about the throttle...Matt has a policy.."full out when in doubt"....lol...Jason

I dont know anyone on this forum yet. Im new to southwest Alberta.

Sounds like you guys have some big sleds! I dont like gettin stuck, so I dont get stuck too much, haha. My 144" is gonna seem like such a short track, but im used to being the short track of the bunch, just means i gotta ride better than everyone else, haha. I used to ride my 121" in the mountains and could still have fun and keep my pace.

BASTARD!! lol, I don't know if i can ride with you this winter then, ill be too jealous.

Getting parts for me is gonna be an issue, there is no polaris dealer in lethbridge anymore i guess. Sounds like Pincher Creek is the closest? I wanna get a few parts and change em soon, nothing urgent, but there are a few things that have enough miles on that i should change them out..

I cant wait to see your assault!!!

pincher is only an hour though...not too bad....everywhere we ride a 800 144" will be fine...we all road those spots with 144's and 136 inch tracks....oh and Matt..not compensating ....there is no substitute for horsepower...

parking
when you are driving up to the hill and there is a parking lot cleared asap on your right, 30 secs down road u turn right to park at hill. stage at hill or at cleared lot.

riding,
from that staging lot take left towards hill instead of going right into ski hill parking go strait down by the trailers and keep going, it turns to a ungroomed trail (groomed rarely), after a few minutes you will see a small clearing and creek (early season) keep going, follow trail for 5 minutes or so and there is some sinage. follow the trail and it takes you in but the trail does not last long so you just explore, you can actualy get to fernie from there so goes for ever. hard to explain and I am bad with names of things,

hope this helps, I used to ski a tonne as well but not so much anymore, I will be riding there late Nov it starts to get good, shoot me a pm and I would be happy to show ya around,I have a friend in Lethbridge that alway rides there with me, there is some great riding with good snow and smaller crowds, and pretty close for you

Shawn

I'm surprised to here there might be enough snow @ castle for a November ride. Are ya sticking to the roads then or braving the wide open with the rocks and stumps? We hit Corbin Dec. 1 two years ago and had to stick the roads as there was only about 2 ft....the Apex goes down a long ways in bottomless fluff!

I was planning on heading to Revy the last weekend of november. It was great there last year but maybe a castle ride's in order. The drive from Revy always kills me after a hard weekend!

Note to self...avoid Coalhurst 'till december! My eyes, my eyes!

Ya, I'm going a little stir crazy waiting as well! I'm headed to the snow show in Edm to get a fix on Sat.

Dobir, maybe we'll see ya in revy that weekend. I'm sure I'll be the only stock Apex out there!

I am going to sled show in 1 hour for door opening :)

Does the pipeline see as much wind as castle?
From my skiing days i know if there is a 30km/h wind in Lethbridge that translates to a 70km/h wind up high on red chair. However if there was a 30-40km/h wind in Lehtbridge that translated into snow in Fernie Baby !!:d

IF pipeline gets less wind i would assume they get more snow than castle ?
Cant you access the Fernie ride area from pipeline too?

ya you could be right, maybe a little early, but if the hill opens it usaly means its worth the trip, but ya can be windy at castle, pipeline not too windy but up top at the notch can be.

The pipeline and the BC side in general gets way less wind...days it is blowing on the Alberta side it can be totally calm on the pipeline...
