Hi Folks
Picked up another inch of ice over the last couple of days, sitting at 5 in front of the block 14 beach
Well I turned the heat on in the Rhino, plugged the heated seat in and went for a tour around the bush today, yes I’m spoiled.
The ruts on the trails I groom are soooo deep and full of broken and cut of spruce trees I may have to wait until we get at least a foot of dense snow before I can start the packing process. So when you start to ride at the lake pay attention to the terrain it could be hard on your track and suspension.
I met with the Sodergrens yesterday, they are the lease holders north of the lake and plan on putting cattle on that lease next June.
They of course would like to keep the ATV’s out of the lease while the cows are on the lease but may give access if you call them. They are going to get a permit from the Gov. and build some trail on the outside of their fences and would like the quaders to use these trails.
They will put up signage and I will as well to help everyone get along
They have no issue with us snowmobiling out there. And if your a hunter use respect and make the call for permission


The gravel pit north of the lake has now been reclaimed, nice job, so I’m sure it will a fun place to ride, Becareful there is some very large erosion rocks placed on that site, none of them will move if you hit one so it will ruin your day, use extreme caution when out there riding.

Hi folks
well I’ve crossed the lake at the Narrows today. Ice testing shows 6 inches of clear blue ice. Remember I only checked it there.
So it was ok for my sled, grizzly and commander.
Remember Superduties need a lot more.
The guys are out fishing south of the Narrows in their favourite spots.
Started packing that bumpy trail across from the Narrows. It’s still bumpy.

Now for the last few seasons I started riding at Christmas, I have put on about 40 km on the new SKIDOOO so if you want to go for a nice quiet family ride after next Friday cuz hunting season is over Saturday come on out to the Lake. I was out to the Grazing reserve hunting yesterday and it’s packed about 8 inches of show, the same rocks you have hit before are still there this year. I was up towards the Ghost cabin down near Hannore lake, ok there.
Now you could get on the quad and do the same thing but this is a snowmobiling site.
Get out to the forest and have some fun!!!!

Hi Folks
well im not sure what you got but we now have 1 foot of snow at the Lake.
Its still coming now but very lightly.

With this much much snow and only 7 inches of ice where I tested we are going to have lots of Top water under the snow. Please be so careful if you venture out onto the ice anywhere you ride. As simple as taking your cordless drill and an 1/2 inch wood auger bit and it will cut through the ice and you will know the depth where you are.

Thanks for the updates. I have not ridden out that way before but my daughter wants to go out on Saturday is there a trail map available with staging location? Looking to do a 30 to 50 km ride.

i was out today on the Westlock west loop. Snow covers most of the rocks. Was nice to get out, but still rough riding and not quite what I want to take her out in.

Was out on Tue riding was ok. Don has been busy with his packing. With the gravel hauling it is a little hard to make a loop across the lake. Do Not ride on the creek you will get wet. I would stay off any water!!!!!!

Hi folks
Deb and I just got back from a nice 25 k run. Back is sore kept it short.
So I finally cleaned up that bumpy trail at the Narrows up to the county pit. Much straighter. But the motor on my right lift leg packed it in, in the down position. ��
The county has scraped the road down to hard packed for their gravel haul in January but you put the scratchers down go easy and it’s doable.
The warm weather dropped the snow on the lake and the top water is starting to freeze up.
Made it out to the back end last week and it was good
The big pipe line is ok an$ you can still see most of the rocks.

Half the new snow edmonton got yesterday.
10"ish dense snow so can go anywhere.....just not fast.
We are just hanging out with the kids in the hayfield till tonight then a night ride through the leases to long lake.

Went for a good ride today.
Just got back in.
Stayed within a few miles of the yard.
To chilly to go to far.
Snow was pretty good.
Just not deep. 11 sleds out riding.
Always fun!

Hi Folks
Put those Snow dancing boots on, it’s started to snow here.
Road the creek yesterday, didnt see any open water, no rotten egg smell, it’s rough someone was on the creek when there was top water.
Groomed up to the Lookout today, much nicer now.

The county will will start moving gravel from their pit across from the Narrows, they have graded it to the dirt, they should be done hauling by the 15th of January

Snow update. 4 inches so far tonight.

Good day Folks Hay what an excellent job on the snow dancing, we received around 5 inches of the white stuff.
I have either packed or groomed most of the main trails in the area and now with 5 inches of fresh snow I’ll leave it alone until it gets rough.
Come out and have a great time at the Lake.

Top water is back under the snow on the lake.
I recommend you don’t stop on the ice.
Im over cautious about the ice, but I’m old and that’s why I’m cautious
about lake ice.

Did it snow about 12" out there in the last week or is that a rumor.
Last time I was out there was boxing day.
Daughter should be cleared to ride in a couple weeks, been house bound 8 weeks recovering from surgery.
Do a short run at the lake on some of your super smooth trails for a starter.

Hi folks
Well the snow at the lake is pretty good for this time of the year, probably put a couple hundred km on since Christmas.
Lots of sleds out enjoying the great weather.
The top water is everywhere on the lake and some of the slews east of the lake.
The trails close to the lake are getting a bit rough, that groomer guy needs to get to work.
The county will start hauling gravel from there pit at the Narrows on Monday
And will finish by the 15th.
The creek has a couple of wet spots from end to end but I haven’t seen any open water.
Heres one for all of us to keep in mind, from a very good source cougars have moved into the area, now they may
have always been here but now it’s been confirmed. Just an FYI

Had a great ride yesterday from the lake going east to the pipeline and heading down towards Hanmore lake, found some signage for the Trans Canada trail which disappeared onto some local roads. Some new areas to discover and conditions were great, like Don said which for the water on the slews. All in all put on 105km of fun.

Went from the farm to the lookout bench on top of hill at south end of lake.
Got home at about 9PM. last night.
Ice fog was about 100' above ground.
You could see a sled halo coming from a mile away.
Looked cool bobbin through the hillside trails!
Daughter had a blast.
