The story that I heard was that they were dropping into the airport the same way 100s probably 1000s do every year when the face to the riders left (south) completely burying him on his sled with the exception of his hand. While it is a prone slope it sound like the group did what they needed to do by having their eyes on their guys and quickly dug him out.

It is still hearsay so it may not be 100% accurate but from a hearsay from a reliable source nonetheless.

The one thing I can really take away from that video is the color of the guys's helmet - it's bright and stands out really well. If I had a white helmet, he sure wouldn't be as easy to find. Will be something I consider in my next gear purchase.

I have the high viz BRP carbon helmet.

The vid says alot. I didn’t ask him anymore questions, other than if he was at the airport avy, he was talking to my buddy and I overheard the conversation, about the revy avy.
I heard the same story at Allan cabin on Sunday. Apparently the guy telling the story was climbing up out of the airport and things slid out behind him. All involved from below were on radio and told him to stay up top and not to come back down. The lower group dug the full burial out. He claimed there was only the tip of sled ski sticking out was his story. Glad to hear everyone was good. Ride safe
