Does anyone know of any manufacturers for kits for a '98 polaris trail rmk, or a '99 700 rmk? It said it was an option for those years, but I'm having a hard time tracking these things down.
Polaris made a reverse kit for those models. You have to replace the gear cover with the new parts and hook up a cable opperated lever. They also made electric start for both models. You will need the starter, wiring, battery, battery box and a ring gear that bolts to the primary clutch and a few other little things to make it all work. Loctite the ring gear on so it does not come loose. Call or email Cycle Work...Ask for Brad to see if they can get you the parts you need. You could also give Elk Island Sales a call as they may have some good used parts for your project.
One other thing...You may be able to add one of the electronic reverse kits (PERC) that runs the engine in reverse on the 700. You would need the wire harness, newer secondary clutch and also the flywheel off of a PERC machine. It is a bit harder to install one of these setups but then you have an upgraded secondary clutch and do not have to add the mechanical reverse kit..if weight was a concern...which is probably not in your case if you want to add electric start.
