Just looking for some feedback. Gonna pick up a entry shotgun Remingtonshotgun. I am sure there are better but for the under $500 dollar value thus brand seems best. So I am having a hard time deciding between there 870 model and there 887 model. Anyone that has tied both, little feedback on pros/cons would be great.

Haven't tried a Remington but bought a Winchester defender for same price range. It shoots awesome. Very happy with it.

theres alot of factors that affect this decision. what re you going to use it for? clays, targets, deer hunting, bird hunting or bear protection. i have a remington magnum express pump action, it was cheap and its dependable it jamed once when i first bought it not sure if it was shitty shells or a lack of wear issue. but since then no issues. Id get a semi-auto they re loads of fun. but it your set on either the 870 or the 887 go with the 887 short barrel its the better looking one.

i have a Model 887 Nitro Mag Tactical and love it.
i havent put too many rounds through it so far. maybe 400 or so.
its easy to clean. i find it fits nice and the recoil is good.
my buddy has a 870 model and has fired mine and he sasy they are the same gun. the 887 is a little lighter but you can barely notice.
i have never fired the 870 but from what my buddy says he loves it and wouldnt go with anything else.
from my understanding the 887 is basically the same. a little bigger and alittle lighter. looks a little diff.
for an entry level shotgun i dont think you would go wrong with either one.
when your walking around with it though prepare to have sore arms. its a pretty heavy gun. but when shooting it balances out and is awesome to shoot

Bass pro tells me the 887 has slightly less recoil over the 870. But the 887 can cut yea open when cocking with ammo, slid action gets really close to trigger assembly.

Not gonna lie I am leaning towards a 887 camo version withp28" barrell. Primary use is targets and some bird off the start. Might move into deer down the road. Range on either is bout 100yrds?

For deer or moose look at the H & S slug hunter. Rifled barrel. I just picked one up at wholesale sports. Add a red/green dot scope to it..

If you are planning on modifying it, an 870 may be the way to go, lots of bolt on goodies available for it, not sure if the same can be said about the 887. Check out Candian Gun Nutz or Gun Owners of Canada for more info. If you sign up at Gun Owners of Canada, tell them you were referred by FightingShiba's. They are running a contest to give away a Ruger 10/22 when they hit 1000 members and other promotions for referring new members, so it might help me get some swag. Thanks.

I'm not sure how set on remington you are but I bought a stoeger some time ago and very happy with it and I'm sure I had paid under 500 for it. They are well built and I believe they are made buy Benelli.

For $500 I'd drop the extra $200 for a Benelli Supernova. The Benelli has so little recoil, you could shoot two thousand rounds through it a day and your shoulder wouldn't be sore.

I happy with the 870, no issues et all, works better (smoother action) after a few boxes of rounds. I think its a great gun for that price point. I think it feels lighter than the winchester defender. As mentioned before lots of cool goodies available for the Remington 870.

I've shot both. Went with the 870 Express and modded it. Preferred the groupings, mechanics and overall feel of it over the 887. Have fun gun shopping !
