Here is an example of why checking your reed valves is such an important part of engine performance. Notice the corners burnt and breaking of the petals of the valve which has drastic affects on the operation of the intake of your engine. Just food for thought. Also notice the last three pictures are taken from the carb side of the valve, notice the petals dont seal on the cage in the burnt areas.

Good to know, will check mine upon preseason tear down, might want to get a better camera for taking macro's though haha.

ahh crap! I was going to try to get through the season without checking them, after seeing this post I will being pulling them off. Thanks Deano for giving me an extra 6 yours work ( turbo intake is a b#$&h to get off and back on). Shoooot!!!!

on any series 3 rotax I've owned the reeds are toast after 3 seasons. at least the v-force reed boxes don't delaminate like the stock 'doo stuffers.

wonder why the throttle response just ain't how ya remembered? :d

I just finished pulling mine, and they look simular.
good thing I checked them. Now to get all of back together.

Sorry for the blury pics fella's, just got new camera and havent yet quite figured all the settings out.:confused: Summiteer nearest i know there are 2 seasons on these.

Three seasons on those reeds Deano. Last year was a pretty lite use year for that sled(11 days riding)

I have a M1000 and was wondering if the V Force 3 reeds are worthwhile putting on.:beer::beer:

IMO the v force reeds are great for the low end but they bosysen rad valves are better for mid to high...not to hijack the thread but figured it maybe appropriate too add to this thread

From my experience the V-forcework well all-around the boyesen reeds work goodin bikes but not so great in sleds.. That is why they are currently working with a couple engine builders and spending countless hours flow testing and dyno testing..

There are large differences.. The V-force use the 4 seperate sides that have pedals per cylinder for most applications and boyesen use two saides but have like 3 layers of pedals stacked up..

The new Boysene Rage Cage will be a very good reed.;)

I read about the Rage cage power pak in an artilce in a sled magazine, and they praise the unit for it's power gains on 600's and especially 1000's. Kind of expensive, and I'm not certain I'm willing to try them just yet.

I'm waitin to talk to a guy i know thatwas down at boyesen for like the past week or so doing a bunch of dyno stuff and flow bench stuff. I want to find out what he had to say about them.

i've been toying with the idea of aftermarket reeds too for my 1000rt... Through royal distributing or hi=perf they were cheaper than for the 800's... After the big pipe, that will be the next investment... Anyone else tried them on the big doo yet???

Put lots of Vforce on the big doo and they work well. Not sure of anyone with boyseens on any.

I've got over 5k on my '04 800 and have never checked the reeds. Looks like I should be takin a look this fall. V-force are good on the 800's right? Found some new ones on e-bay for cheap.
