I have a 2012 Pro RMK and I am looking to change out the pipe and can....my dealer is telling me that only SLP exhaust systems are recommended for Polaris sleds. If anyone has any info on this please post. I am looking for the best weight savings and the best HP increase.....of course!

backus raceing has been useing our can the thing cooker on his 2010 800's instead of the slp set up . claims it does make hp .give them a call for the low down on why as they were big into slp before useing the can i designed for the application .

If you are just changing the can then there isn't much for HP savings, by going to an after market can... but you should stick with SLP, becasue it is about 15 lbs in weight savings on my 2010, from original...
5 1/2 lbs u mean?

SLP is a good choice for the Pro, but consdier this. The exhaust system on the pro is already a REALLY good design a far as getting good power out of that engine. It has a pretty good tune and you don't have a lot on the table being left like the older sleds use to. The can itslef weighs 13lbs I believe and is already a great flowing design, if you swap look for one with same flow rates and less weight, that is really all you will gain.

SLP requires the use of a tuner box on your sled, factor that into your price. Not sure what SLP "claims" for gains or what the cost on full exhaust and tuner was but when I looked at it it seemed high for dollar to hp ratio.

Other brands can run safely without, I have heard good about the dynport exhaust as far as a couple hp gains but it also cleans up the throttle response.

As far as cans I ahve been very pleased with the quality and sound of my HPS, wieghs in at 4lbs I believe and is not as loud as their older models, bench flowed to not restrict over stock and great design and quality for its weight.

Plans for me are the SLP intake to help it breath a little better and possibly the Power Addiction head from Brad. Heard great things about the gains and cleaning up the motor and also can run without a programmer still on 91 octane.

on the 2011 Backus raceing was useing our can and he claimed as much gain as the complete slp system gave . he adds 2grs with the can use and when polaris was in revy last christmas they were scratchhing there head over a can that delivered on a par with the slp stuff .
when i design a can we pressure and flow test it till we have tha same flow as stock and dont under or over pressure the system.why he added the 2 grs to the clutching when useing the can, is cause it would pull it . for more thou i would call them .they were pretty die hard slp guys but found this a far less expensive way to go.and as it was the cooker ccan they prefered i found it interesting in that the cooker can has design internally very different than any can in the industery and left us with a can that could do 2 things .cook ya lunch and give ya some go.

Whem you say useing ''our'' can, which type of can is that, also does it require a programmer like the SLP exhaust system requires. Thanks for the info

SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! He is talking about "THE THING" It's a SECRET. All I will say is I have been using "the thing" for years and years and years and will NEVER use ANY OTHER can. This "thing" used to work incredible when combined with a SLP pipe on the older polaris' and I will be purchasing my "The Thing" very very soon for my new PRO.

Hey Al how was your summer? What kind of feedback do you have from the guys running a SLP pipe and your can compaired to Stock pipe and your can. Any differences sound and performance wise between the regular "thing" and the "Cooker Thing" for the Pro?

the cooker can has a very different flow chartersitic inside , due to going around the cooker chamber , ended up haveing 3 places to adjust flow and pressure .i match max pressure and flow of the stock system.were i gain over the stockcan is that i can assit the pipe coming to pressure sooner , but not over pressureing the system.no fuel controller required as the system has enough range to allow what takes place in the pipe . its only happening sooner and lengthens the usable power band . likely why there adding a few grams of weight . it will pull it .
i am told that is the same as the slp system adds at a large cost to you .

one of the things that the factories ended up doing on the exhaust side of things is ,delaying the opening of the exhaust port to full open . it would seem that and tested to verify that they maintain 78 decibels on a standard trail speed .45mphthis keeps the over all sound level very acceptable for the most part .idle being 72decibels
but as soon as the guiliteens in the exhaut ports open fully , the decibel meter reads 111 decibels on all brands . loud and that is stock .
what this translates in the mountian riders realm is a weak and usless mid range power band .
open the exhaust port sooner and the pipe comes to pressure sooner , ie bringing the intake vaccum up sooner and getting the charge to above the piston sooner .
on one brand , by changeing a few things we were able to open the exhaust port at 4500rpm , thus stretching the usable power band 2000 rpm more .now for the guy getting around the hills , this makes a big difference in what you can do.
by haveing the power happen sooner , comeing by the 7000 rpm line now has a more of a running start and assists the over all top end .
in the field the track spins up better and the throttle responce is noticable improved because of it .
