Rebuild or New Engine

So my sister managed to blow the engine in my truck. The Startech in brooks says they can get me a used low KM engine for $1500.

So my question is, should i rebuild or just drop a new engine in. Would I be able to rebuild and build up the engine for under $1500?

It's out of a 2000 GMC 2500 6L.

I go with the $1500 motor and caller a day " jmo " get one with a 90 day warrentee and run the chit out of it to see if its a good one pay with visa in case there are problems

Find out what a short block would cost you should be able to use alot of parts from your blown engine.

If your confident in rebuilding it yourself then go that way. Even if ya go over a bit at least ya know it's done properly. IMO

What is blown? Is it just something like a head gasket or hole in the block? The quickest way is to buy the exchange engine and throw it in but you dont know the quality of it. Might be good for another ten years or just a couple months. You could rebuild it and know what you have if you know how to rebuild them. You could have it rebuilt and have the same as the rebuilt engine.

rebuild it with some nice slugs and a decent cam, wake that thing up.
