Rear scissor crack

Saw this one on Facebook earlier. Guy was only running 35psi on the front shock though. Not sure if that's a factor.

I had the bolt mostly drilled out but now the easy out is broken inside and I can't drill that thing out for the life of me.

There is no easy way around that broken extractor. Take the whole thing apart to the last component that needs attention. Between an oxy/acetylene fine tip torch, drill press and very expensive bits you might be able to salvage the rail. Not really a field type repair at this point. Not including repairing thread or installing a helicoil. Take it back to you're dealer and let them deal with it. Make sure they replace everything back to new. No point in you spending your time and money on something they should be covering.

Dealer fix.
So far I have not heard of Cat not being excellent with warranty coverage.
Every issue i have heard of has been covered no questions asked.
Just go to a dealer.

They are expensive and hard to find you might need to go to a place that deals with machinist cutting tools, but you can get carbide drill bits. They are the only ones that will drill them out. Or plug weld on that bolt and get it out that way.

Warranty. Just replace the rail. I wouldn’t have even bothered drilling it out.

Same! I’m a just going to remove the washer and replace with a much smaller washer so the bushing can actually move instead of binding against the bolt. Red lock tight and torque to 15-20ft/lbs if it breaks or strips, or any damage occurs, new rail. Not my problem

You can see clear as day what the master engineering piece of garbage problem is here in this gentlemen’s pic, look at the binding marks on the bushing not allowing the shaft to move freely. This has catastrophe (no pun intended) wrote all over it. The washer is pressed up against the bushing not allowing the shaft to move or it will have minimal movement so every time you hit a bump or manipulate the suspension the bolt is flexing and will eventually shear if hit hard enough. It will take a pretty good downwards hit to shear the bolt though, almost a full compression of the suspension. Easy fix remove the washer or replace with a smaller washer just covering the shaft and not touching the bushing. Not ideal but within theory should eliminate the problem.

try and find someone with some carbide die grinder bits. ive drilled out extractors on cylinder heads with those before.
