I bought an HMF slip on and a K&N air filter from West Country Leisure for $480 tax in. Sounds awesome.

i rode one this past summer it had a hmf on it..wow what a cool sound with the v twin engine. i had the hmf on my 1 cyl grizz..way different sound.. the 2 cyl is half as loud but sounds twice as cool

the guy you want to talk to is kevin from gohardracing.com he is from can-am talk forum and really knows his stuff, he builds/sells the best performing products for can-ams, and he is from alberta

best sounding pipe is the ron woods pipe

but for 1/2 the price and near the same performance get the HMF

well my cousin has an hmf and I have a big gun on mine but to do it again I would leave it alone it's rather lound on long trips just saying there not much for performance gain just noise!!:d

I just installed the HMF (off ebay) and it was alot louder than I expected, so I ordered the quiet core. I just put it in today and I haven't had the chance to take her out yet, but just idling in the garage I can tell that it is going to make a difference. It's still pretty loud, but it still sounds sweet.

Not to divert you from buying a pipe and sorry to hog your thread, but has anyone installed a slip on and then had trouble with their machine stalling right after start up? It seems to start perfectly when I block the exhaust with my hand. It must just not have enough initial back-pressure at start up or something. Maybe the quiet core will give me a little extra back-pressure.

No problem stealing my thread. How much was the HMF off e-bay. The noise is a concern as I want little bit more power but not really noisy so no-one wants to ride with me-lol. I do want to pipe and put better tires on it before spring riding. Any suggestions of what tires are working the best- especially for mud riding. Thanks

For that ham I would put some mud zilla's on if you are looking for a mud tire, stay away from mud lites. I have been around some 800's with pipes and although cool to hear, too loud and obnoxious.

There are the muzzey's and you can add whisper cores, I suggest researching hard cause you don't want to regret the purchase as it can get expensive.

The noise was a big concern for me too, as my group is a little older crowd. We all have kids that come with us, and I don't want to be labeled as an azzhat. The HMF that I put on my Outty comes with a removeable spark arrester. Without it, it is a little too loud for me, but with it in, it is perfect. It is a bit louder than stock, but it sounds really nice, not abnoxious like a Ron Woods or some of the others. As far as tires, I wouldn't go with anything other than Zillas. I am running 27" Vampires, but will be switching to Zillas for the spring.

The HMF was just under $300 shipped and another $50 for the quiet core. They also make a quiet pipe that is approved for all ama decibel levels..it's a little more money, but it's all a personal preference. Here is a link.
