Its not like yer taking laps around a track and telling your tuner(or better yet understanding valving yourself) hey my shocks are doing this or that, I think we should take a shim out and see what it does. When you tell Raptor,,Hey I weight 200lbs and I ride "hard" they are still just guessing at valving anyways... JS

I agree i dont know much about valving and a real shock builder doesn't "guess" at valving. The aftermarket shocks are so much better then stock ones that they can put a generic valving in and everyone says how much better it is then stock. Well i would hope so.

I have rode on shocks guys thought were awesome because they were better then stock and they were better but until you have ridden on well set up ones you dont know. I have not rode on Raptors and they may be great for me out of the box but NO way is a 250lb rider valving close to a 150lb rider even if they "guess" at valving, its gonna be way better for each rider.

Yeah if ur a heavier guy(I'm big too) it definatly does benifit to get it valved abit stiffer and some heavier springs. It's not "custom tuned" just for you though is all im sayin:beer:

The raptor shock pkg is an upgrade and not an extra. I'd be surprised to see you get two sets of shocks just to flip them on kijiji.

I got my sled tucked away in the corner of the garage last month to accommodate the dealer's request in getting rid of them. You can hardly even see it. It's not as big an issue as you're playing it to be.

Reading this thread brings back memories of buying a new sled every year to two, cutting, ripping, drilling, changing, swapping.... Then the next year do it all again

could have a garden shed of mufflers and spare parts, and the cost of buying new every year adds up

why I decided rather to build my one of a kind, build it with state of the art parts, that brp would never mass produce and you can always swap to a better part if and when it comes available, and then be able to keep it the rest of of riding years rather

But some of us just want to thrash on a new reliable totally stock sled every year. Different strokes for different folks

That's always the dilema. Spend money on the old iron to upgrade it or spend a lot more money to get the new iron. The XM is so good unless you want to spend $6000+ on a turbo there is not alot to upgrade.

Some people have the time to mod and work out kinks and still have time to ride. Others like myself just get enough time to ride and need something that doesn't need tinkering or adjustments.

I would love to have a full mod sled but for roughly $3000 or less I can ride a new sled every year and that puts more miles under my belt and gives me more time riding.

Well Brp says thank you

had probably a dozen new sleds over the years and found them to always need mods to get what I was looking out of them, and the last few we're big mods

yes I have been fortunate to have the time to be able to have a mod sled, but When I was buying new most years I was also spending many hrs in the garage looking to find more

if I had had limited time to sled or was not into wrenching I would be happy with stock as well, they came a long way with the etec

It could be just a fad with all the hype about raptor shocks, who knows..........maybe the trails won't see a groomer as much if everyone had a set of these bad boys on

I wish my dealer offered this. Instead i ordered them from ice age rails since i ordered new rails as well. The trails are almost my favorite part of the ride and also 95% of my damages to my sled come from pounding up and down the trail. You think i would learn! Nope
