I'm thinking of making one out of 316 stainless to make it stronger. Seems it would take a lot of force to break it.

Wow I've got 3 sets of Raptors and I've never had one break. Weird!

Odd failure, almost like the shock/spring is reaching full compression before the bump stops have a chance to absorb the bottoming force

That's funny maxwell I only had my shock for 2 days when this happened to me called them told them what happened cause it wore my shock and canister due to spring shifting they said send it back and they would take care of it . So I sent it back 3 months later I get the shock and they charge me $335.00 lol so no more raptor shocks for this guy

I talk to raptor yesterday and they responded to my message very quickly which is nc. He told me they had only seen one other fail like that and it was also on a b-motion baker arm. He gave me couple places I could buy a new one at in Canada and was asking what preload I had on the spring. I bought the skid used and didn't notice it until I started taking the skid apart to clean it all up before I put it in my sled. The guy I bought it from didn't know it was broken either and offered to buy me a new one but I'm going to build one out of stainless as I have access to a lathe and stainless shafting.
