Looking for some input, in the market for a sport quad for the boy and found a good deal (i think) for a 08 Raptor 350 Just wondering if that would be a good fit for a 14 yr?

The 350 is the same weight as the z400 class of machine but less power. The z400 class of machine would be easier to grow with/into. 400 has a throttle limiter which can help tons until they can handle it. The 350 is still the same engine as past models and while reliable to a point (air cooled).

I picked up an older z400 for my 13yr old to learn clutch on and it does need to be limited as it will reward a bad start with a huge wheelie or worse but with the throttle limit set it is quite tame. It is also still fun for me opened up and I'm used to a 450 motocross bike.

I'm not sure what your paying but if it is below market value you could always just sell it and upgrade next year after a season of good riding and have no loss.

I guess that i am used to 4x4, when he sat on the 350 it looked so small but the sport quads are just smaller but so much lighter it makes them fly. he is 5'9 130 lbs. will be the last toy from dad so i would like to have it last him.

i dunno i would look into the 400 class. Stay with the honda or suzi or kawi. Once he out grows them he can bb them and keep with the same unit also there is plenty of aftermarket parts for them too. If he rides like me he will out grown the 350 in a matter of months

any adults riding the 350's?? I have a friend looking for a sport quad and he has never rode before.. I figured this would be better for him then jumping onto a raptor or yzf450. Keep in mind he only uses it for around his cabin and maybe a trip or two through out the year.

The Raptor 350 is the old Warrior with new plastic. Looks cool but rides a little stiff. I would suggest 400 EX Honda, 400 Dvx AC, 400 LTZ Suzuki, or Kawa 400...Yamaha doesn't have anything to fit in this category. The 350 Raptor is not even close to these.

have to agree with this, my 400ex with a 440 bore kit, stage 2 cam, exhaust, air filter and jet kit has beat a raptor 660 with a pipe and air filter and a yfz450 with a pipe, air filter and jet kit. and I have at least 150lbs on both of those guys. and even with those mods my quad is still more reliable than both those yammis
