I had a poly plow for the Polaris General I had and I have a steel plow on my Defender. The poly plow works fine but tends to ride over harder snow. The extra weight of the steel helps dig down more I find. Lighter machines like my old General sag quite a bit up front with the plow lifted up, so a poly plow might be a better choice. The suspension on my Defender is fairly stiff and really doesn’t notice the weight of the steel plow. I expect a Ranger would be the same.

One thing to add is that snow sticks to a steel plow a lot more than a poly plow. I have been meaning to experiment with car wax and see how that helps.

Well…, learn something every day.
I bought this stuff to coat the inside of my tunnel on my sled to help shed snow. Seemed to work decent for 1 season, but the spring time riding peeled most of it away from the gravel and such.
