get yourself a srd fluz map and find out the opening and closing dates. less fines. can be excellent riding if we get the snow. peaks are in the 7500 ft range, but the snow gets blown out and chinooks can take the rest.
went out last winter just before closing, was some of the best snow i ever seen. guy left his yamaha turbo up there overnight, must have shheeet his pants, just couldn't come down. lesson, if you make it to the top, ya gotta come down. or stay off the top.

What is a srd fluz map and where would you get it? I am also thinking about checking out that area this year.

I was in there last March yeah it does get blown off, and melted but if the timing is right and the snow is good the terrain is great. here's a picture.

riding area is open until april 30 2012. you are required to stay on the trails to the riding area's. you can pick up a bighorn fluz map at most outdoor stores and sled shops or at forestry offices. they have a web site also ( alberta srd ). or ya could come out to a suds night and meet the buds, tex 78 sucks though, just an observaton! if we get the snow, it is one nice area to ride that is close by, also boundary area is good, a forest trail ride. keep an eye out as someone is alway's wanting to go out there.

as stated, the area has been skinny on snow for the last few years, but late last year it was the best it has been for quite a while. if ya never been ya will never know.

Thats funny,,,,,,, if it was a Yamaha, maybe it broke up there,, plan on lots of trips once we get the snow and the area opens.

nothing broke, the guy forgot that if you get to the top ya gotta come down. maybe should have looked around while going up, the top was a little wind blown and full of loose shale. lots of track speed but no movement, scared the crap out of him, walked the ridge for 2 hrs, left the sled and hiked down. jkrabben had to go back the next day to get it out for the guy, the down hill wasn't that bad i was in the same place the day before on a 800. oh i was a little sceered alright.

doubt like hell we will be able to make it back in there before the middle of march unless we get a crap load of snow. I'm definetly looking forward to a few trips out there if we get the snow for it, but there is so many land mines back in there that its not worth the effort if there isn't enough snow.

we need a lot of snow before going back into hummingbird riding area, landmines and wind blown. you'll be riding on gravel and rocks. will have to see what the weather brings.

Before last year, it was pretty sparse the seasons before. Definitely need the snow up there. The wind coming through that area can be a bitch. You'll notice coming through that rock cutaway at Abraham Lake when your trailer starts doing a dance behind ya lol.

i've worked out in the ram falls/ nordegg area so i know the area alright, and i do a lot of riding south along the forest trunk towards marble mountain and limestone, but i''ve never seen an area like those pictures around there, where abouts do you unload to get into some of those mountains? looks like you could have some fun out there
