Ram 1500 air bags

Bought a new to me 2015 Ram 1500 and looking to stiffen up the rear for occasional towing. Anyone have experience with the air lift bag you stuff inside the coil? Seems like they work great till they wear out from rubbing on the spring and pop...

Go buy a Super Spring, It's an overloader spring and be done. They are around 800 now, I got mine a couple of years ago, and not looking back

I have Super spring also and it works great. He said coil so i think Dodge may have coil springs instead of leafs.

U cant just put air bags beside the coils ? Air bags are sweet if u can make it work .

There is a kit to have an external airbag but would like to keep the ride as close to stock as possible. The external airbag will limit suspension travel and even running 5psi will make it much stiffer. Im surprised how much softer the rear suspension is on this truck vs the F150.

Airlift has 2 styles of internal bag one being a stronger HD model. There not very expensive so might give them a try.

Correct... Air Lift makes convoluted air bags that sit between the rear wheel and rear coil. I had them on my 2010 Ram 1500 paired with the Wireless One compressor. Works slick. I took the compressor and installed it on my 2016 Ram 2500 with rear coils.

Another vote for super springs I doubted them until I had them.. game changer

I am a fan of the timbrens honestly. It took me 3 goes chatting with them and going back and forth to get the right size spacer and such, but now its perfect, rides nice, lots of bottoming resistance, and zero maintenance. I had airbags on my last truck and I was always worried about having them start leaking when im 50kms back in the mid of nowhere.

I know they have lots of hate, but work good for me. Tow with a 50" SXS on a rack and my camper trailer behind. (and yes, I have weighed it, and I am legal)

Ya there's lots of ways to skin a cat. I just like the air bags in thay doesn't matter what u are carrying u can set your truck so your headlights are not in the trees as i have multiple trailers and sled deck, u just hit the button and level the truck . Had 2 trucks with them don't know how people go without. Good luck i would get something those trucks are soft

I’m shocked that your legal, these trucks have really wimpy payload and GVWR numbers. I dont think I could haul my 28’ travel trailer... The power and economy out of the deleted diesel is sure hard to beat.

Thanks for the reply’s guys. Might try the HD airlifts (they are cheap) and if I like them i’ll get a compressor to adjust them on the fly.

The air bags inside the rear coil springs wil rub through, no questions asked. Pay the extra and get some decent normal airbags, and run 2psi... we’ve replaced several sets of the airbags inside the coils with the external types. One guy had them in for 2 months and towed a trailer once.

There's not a ton of room left, The rack actually helps bring a lot more of the weight of the sxs to the front axle than you would expect. But it is legal with a my diesel 3500 SRW. That being said my trailer is on the lighter side around 6000lbs with less tounge weight than other trailers. And my rack is a full lotus all aluminum rig. I can put the rack in by myself, so im sure that helps too.

I had a set of TufTruck variable rate hd coils in the rear of my last Ram 1500. Made one hell of a difference. Didn't affect the ride at all and a sled in the box didn't result in getting brighted by everyone on the highway.

Timbren are the Cats Ass, period! Have used them for years.
