So I'm in the market for a new one. My old one got stolen. I had an escort passport 8500 x50. Pretty popular unit. It worked perfect and I loved it but it was 3 yrs old. Wondering what people are using now for good detectors. The best escort is the 9500ix but I'd hate to shell out 500 bones. Been looking at the cobra 9970G. Anyone have one?

Give me your .02. And slowing down is not a valid solution

I've had the 9500 since they came out a couple years ago. The built in gps is really nice. I have it hard wired and hooked up by my rear view and it rarely gets taken off. I would never want to own a radar detector without the gps again. I don't like listening to all the beeping of false signals. IMO it is well worth the money. As far as cobras go i have never owned one so i have no opinion, sorry!

Ok thanks guys. Yeah been checking out different websites for ratings and info. Seems the 9500 is always first but the rest vary depending on who's doing the testing etc

I have a cheap cobra that is at least 5 years old, it has saved me many times over the years but I just don't think it cuts it anymore. I have a friend that swears by his Bell STi but all the rest with properly fast cars won't leave the house without their Valentine One's.

Maybe you should get a security system for your vehicle instead

Valentine hands down is the best, it falses just the same as the rest but it has the arrows so you can tell if its a legit signal or not, plus its nice on the highway to see the arrow from behind and knowing before the bastards sneek up on you. If you want jammers then there's others models out but for regular radar/laser, i love my valentine.
