Av gas doesn't burn dryer.. What you get in nothin lower then 100 octane, but I. Reality I will very from 100-112 octane. It kind of a swamp mix. If you set up an account with Basset fuels in Sherwood park you can get av for 1.52/l by the drum. Or do like I do and get it from my neighbour farmer with spray planes.. Actual cost on av is 1.36/l. So getting good fuel for cost of premium. And wouldn't that be great to put a lil cummins in line 2 turbo in a sled!!! Hahaha. I love diesel HP!!

It would definitely be cool, the Cummins part i'm kinda biased against but whatever, but the weight would be a disadvantage, and i'm not sure how much power they could make, but we'll never know until someone tries.:)

Yes, I buy it by the litre. Av is also higher in lead I believe. And low in sulphur. Sulphur is what lubes the injectors, etc... So I add add a dab of oil to every tank. Prolongs the life of the fuel system.
The mntek kit works really good. I've got about 50 or so miles on it. Runs crisp.

Good to here about the mtntk kit, and I agree on adding oil with the fuel, keeps everything lubed.

I like the idea of burning a little bit of strong race. I just picked up some Fury 120 (120.3 octane in all types of rating) for $3.81 per L if I'm going to be hauling fuel around I want to haul the least amount possible. I'm not sure on how much of this 120 I will need to mix in for my desired boost. I will post my ratios once I figure out what is safe.

Update

VP C-12 at 40% with 60% Shell V-Power 91 non-ethanol
Paid $5.00/liter for a 5 gallon pail.
Running 8lbs of boost at 2000ft on stock head.
Seems to run similar to VP C-111, but almost feels a little snappier on the bottom end.

50/50 Fury 108 and 94 premium
boondocker setup, 6-10 lbs boost (gotta luv EBC) dependant on what the day is asking for; usually 8 lbs from 6500-8000'.
stock head, but do have the MTNTK drop in fix kit for the CFI-4
so far, no bouncing off DET, but do only run her around 4-6 lbs in mcmurray when doing some screaming around here.

Where can you buy C-111 in the Edmonton area? I was driving to Ponoka to get it where I had my turbo installed, but am looking for somewhere closer. Thanks

80/20 Avgas/Premium
Runs well, and its cheap.

40/60 C14/Premium
Also runs well, but pricey.

So after using C111,C12,C14,Avgas blends I will continue to use Avgas for availability and cost reasons, I find no significant difference so as to justify the extra cost for race fuel.

Just curious but why even bother mixing in 20% premium. I couldn't be bothered.

I started out using 100% Avgas but find by mixing 20%-40% Shell 91 I get better throttle response. I've run this mix between 8-11 lbs and have never seen DET.

I get AV gas for $1.38/L due to a farmer buying 3000 gallons a year for crop planes. But I have an account set up at Basset petroleum in Sherwood park. Just say you have a lil crop plane or something not for SLEDS!! lol.. And It's about $1.52/L and They will charge you $65 for the barrel out of the gate. But as you return Barrel there will be no xrtra cost. Cheers
