Just wondering if there are any significant benefits/faults with the quick strap system for goggles. I just picked up some 509's and was wondering if I should also adjust to the quick strap, or stick with the standard band? Lets hear what everyone has to say.

Every single pair of goggles that we own has quick straps. It is so much easier to get your goggles on and off quickly. The only problem I have had is the mounts coming off my helmet. Well actually that was my fault I left my helmet in the garage and it got to be at least 500 degrees in there and the glue melted off. I had to get some crazy glue and stick it back on.

No quick straps are okay if you are always riding with good airflow, never get stuck, don't ride when its snowing, don't overheat and start sweating, and don't breathe when you stop. Otherwise put them on and be ready to go when your buds who didn't are scraping ice and fog build up off the inside of their goggles. My two cents.:)

Only way to go ........... really clean helmet before sticking them on. Have had mine on for five years no issues. Remove goggles from helmet once a year for summer.

Gonna need some surgery on those 509's to attach the quick straps. Take the lense out, remove the two stap hinges and cut off the old strap. Then you need to remove the seam on the end of the quick strap (or cut it off) and thread the quick strap through the hinge. Fold the end of the strap over and get the little woman to sew it up so it can't pull through. Someone else may have a better way of doing this, it's what I ended up doing. Clean the side of your helmet with rubbing alcohol before you stick the mounts on.

I used quick straps for a few years, the only issue I ever had was when I wanted to take the goggles off the helmet the non-velcro side could be a real SOB to "un-click" without the plastic piece coming right off the helmet. The only reason I went back to the regular strap was because of this happening at inopportune times, and yes I did have an extra quick strap mount, but at -15 did not work out so well. I like to put my goggles under my hood when stopped to warm them up/defog them so I found the quick strap to be a bit of a pain. Not knocking quick straps obviously I am one of the few that's not a huge fan, just giving you the view from the other side of the fence.

Take a sharp knife and carve away a little of the plastic that holds the non velcro side in. Makes it easier to remove goggles to put under hood. (Be careful not to carve too much, the goggles will fall off every time you take them off your face).

I had an issue with my clip side coming off. Same thing, was trying to get the goggles off to warm them up. I set the sticky side on my exhaust to warm and soften it and stuck it back on. Stayed on the rest of the day.
