I am going to pull the primary clutch off my 2008 M8. I don't have a clutch removal tool nor do I have immediate access to one as there is no dealer here. After doing some reading, lots of guys say to use water and hydraulically pop the clutch free. So could I use just any bolt that has the same thread pitch as the clutch? In theory, using water the bolt should never contact the crankshaft so it should work?

Why not use the clutch bolt? Won't hurt anything.

Yeah I thought about that after I posted my question. So with the idea of using water I should be able to just run the clutch bolt back in right?

The clutch tools have a lot more thread on them, I don't know if the clutch bolt would be able to compress into the threading enough. Can't see how an attempt would hurt though, give it a shot

You need a bolt that threads into the clutch not the crank. Put lots of teflon tape on the threads fill hole with water and tighten up bolt. The hydraulic pressure will pop the clutch off.
