I was wondering what the differnce is between a summit 670 and a mxz 670. I know the track is differnt but is the motor and geometry the same? Im thinking of sellin the rmk 600 for a 670 this season.
summit pipes for an S chassis 670 will not fit in an mxz chassis unless you change the motor mount plate.
sorry, I should have specified...Ralph at split second will not make pipes for an S chassis MXZ (at least not in '96 when I wanted some), the bend at the Y pipe is too restrictive, and does not make enough HP in his eyes to build pipes for, unless you swap engine plates. I just assumed aftermarket pipes were different between the two because of this, my bad....Teeroy,
that's not entirely true.... for the stock pipe yes. All aftermarket pipes fit fine between the 2 chassis.
a stretched mxz would be ok lots of guys did it. you lookin at KORES unit. sweet machine and would keep you happy for a while. If you are looking at others make sure the guy knows his chit. the 670 was really picky with pipes and if wrong ones put on could result in pooched engines. and x model to standard model use different pipes as well. they do not mix well. my 670 is up to around 5000 miles now and still running strong. if you do get one though make sure you get the deflector sheild behind the primary because when you blow a belt with one of these engines they like to eat it up costing you a seal, bearing and downtime. just sayin. they eatem real good trust me. but otherwise best sled ever built imo.

the engine in the mxz is 1 inch lower in the chassis, and tipped forward 3/4 inch for a lower center of gravity. summit pipes for an S chassis 670 will not fit in an mxz chassis unless you change the motor mount plate. DPM showed up in the summit in '98, and on the MXZ for one year in '99. very reliable engines, one that has been well treated can run for up to 10,000 miles or more before a rebuild. they sure don't make 'em like they used to.
the 670 is the greatest machine that ever lived..
That's the fact have buddies that run 670 mods to this day there are lots out there runnin strong. Matter of fact thanks Jake for pinnin your 670 mod up to help me out last season.:d
