Questions about car storage.

So I bought a new car that I will be storing
In an unheated garage over the winter.
From your experience what are the best ways to do this.
Also looking for a car cover any which ones are good and more importantly the bad ones.

Some will say start it regularly but that's never been my habit. A couple times through the winter I'll do a 10 second starter crank to move things around a little. And hopefully land in a different spot in the firing order. Without driving the oil doesn't get up to temperature and neither does the exhaust system. Moisture from combustion builds up. The dry air of the prairies is very forgiving though.

Lock the door, Disconnect the negative battery terminal, leave parked until April. It's what I do with my Sema truck and it sits outside in the snow uncovered

You can get battery maintainers from princess auto for 20$ i leave those on all the batteries. Even the batteries i pull out of stuff. They last forever that way

Dont need a fancy car cover just some soft bed sheets will keep cat prints and the dust off.

I cover my nice car. Fuel stabilizer in the tank. I over inflate the tires to the max psi they are rated for to prevent any flat spots. Battery tender on anything sitting longer than a month. The outside cat gets to sleep in there on the cold nights and deal with any mice that find their way in.

I got my cover from here, it’s like a silk sheet. Then I put a heavier cheaper one over that because of the fing cats . New car I wouldn’t do much fill the tank with non ethanol gas and call it a day. https://www.carcover.ca/

Not at all. since you're leaving it inside why even bother with a cover and pulling the battery? If you're going to start it evey month.
what kind of car is it anyway ?

I just throw a Battery Tender Jr on my Hellcat, cover on it, tires to 40psi. If is start it at some point I run it for 20-30 min to get up to temp. Batt Tender is key to battery longevity….still on the original one on the 2016 car, my 2017 Jeep and my 2016 quad….these all get tenders when parked for over a few days.
Edit: I change oil in everything that parks over the winter too. So car, Jeep, riding mowers all have fresh oil.
Edit edit: premium fuel from Shell with a little shot of Stabil goes in car and Jeep. (Car lives on premium anyway)

If you don't warm it up to operating temp, it is harder on it if you keep starting it for a bit and shutting it off. Vehicles sit for 6 months at a time all the time. Tires will be fine. Battery tender is all you need.
