Question for the home builders?

I know nothing about pre fab homes and was wondering if anyone here builds them or if anyone has purchased one? Are they kinda shitty like a modular home or are they decent?
Seem to be a bit cheaper than going the traditional way but not by much.

I’ve been around a couple of them.

One thing to consider would be that there is a considerable amount of electrical, plumbing and HvAc that still needs to get installed in the basement or craw space. The few I have seen have basically just had wire or pipes stubbed through the floor and everything needs to get connected after it’s moved to site.

Over 50 years ago i worked for a company called starburst homes, they were built stronger than the regular home because the drywall would be cracked by the time it arrived, the lintels were run full length in the walls. And 40 or so years back it was cheaper to order packages than get the lumber and plywood and frame it yourself, you could stand those up in one day. I have no knowledge of the modern ones, but i think they would be the same. So many terms and meanings for pre fab homes though

Some of the ones I've seen used 2x4 walls. That might be the difference. But don't quote me on that

I’m sure you can customize or adjust anything for the right dollars and the right builder.

limitations would likely be load size down the roads or difficulty to transfer the pre built sections onto the foundation or piles. But those issues are probably adjustable for the right dollars.

they might be a good option if man power or trades are scarce due to location. But lots of work still is required after they are placed.
