I'm in the welding/pipefitting side of things so its a little different, but the very lowest I have seen is $32 for J-Man up to $100+ as a contract J-Man Fitter plus day rate for truck when working as a supervisor. But most "pulling the wrenches" if you will are right around the $40 mark.

I thought welders and pipe fitters dont get along? lol. Atleast thats what I heard from my buddies in FSJ (welder helpers)

So would that be like 60 for the truck 40 for you type deal?...Maybe im in the wrong trade

No like $100 for you paid to your own company, plus $200 a day for your companies truck. So like $1400 for a 12 hr day paid to your company, then you pay yourself from your own company. But these are guys with 15+ years experience.

As for the welder pipefitter thing, some don't get along, but in reality one trade can't survive with out the other, so we really have no choice.

Are you in camp or LOA type deal?

hey just a quick question... are you a second year apprentice because you took 1 year of school and then came out a 2nd year apprentice... bc use to do that for some trades... this could be why the low ball offer... my advise pick a good company... one you like and one that takes care of it guys as far as you can tell... show up to work on time, don't whine, work your ass off... my guess is as soon as you prove that your more then reliable your pay and benefits will improve greatly...don't worry 22/h goes a lot further in AB then it did in BC... just on vehicle insurance and gas alone oh and prov taxes... good luck

I didn't mean to sound arrogant about the wrong trade thing, I realize everyone has to put their time in. I have never heard of an electrician making that much, then again the wages in Alberta seem to vary quite a bit from BC.

Thats true, suppose its just human nature to but heads with your coworkers once in awhile

If you get no response from sending in resume, then I would show up on there door step early in the morning and ready to work. Show them that you are serious.

Tarpon I've applied to all their jobs online and never gotten a reply, with techmation I usually get a reply that says I dont meet their minim qualifications....I have all required tickets except fall arrest which I was signed up for next week

Most companies here won't hire unless you live here. New hires cost to much, if your not already here the chances you will come and go are high.

You need to show up here. if you get up at seven am and go take resumes out you will have a job before lunch.

I would think you can start somewhere for at least 23 an hour with your schooling. After you land the first job it's easy to job jump and make more money.

Most money is made from long hours with tons of overtime. Don't sign any contracts etc or make any commitments other than verbal.

I'll be coming up tomorrow and have a hotel booked for the week. Anyone know of basement suites/apartments (one bedroom) available?

I am trying to setup all the viewings on Wednesday, and hope to be moving in on Sunday

Other than Kijiji is there another website that has rental listings?

PS94 I pm'd you

Fridays paper used to be full of listings and jobs. Not sure if it still is.

Thanks I'll see if I can locate one

On another note, holy frig it is cold, that wind is brutal. What do you guys do when to keep warm when working outside? I have good insulated overalls and a baraclava, I also have a lot of warm gloves but unfortunately it is hard to terminate with bulky gloves
