right now I have a 16 wide track on my 310 MCX 06 Apex......the sides keep getting dinged up because it is so close to the tunnel......my question is does the 16 inch track really give more traction than the 15? 1/2 inch on each side doesnt look like it would make a differance! and with the 15 it would side hill better? and the 15 is lighter! so is the 1 inch really worth the extra pain in the a$$? yes it has more square inches on the ground.......but is it really that much better? when the track is turning 70 -80 mph does that 1 inch make a differance? I need a new track so debating about going 162 x 15 instead of 16 wide! can you get a 162 x 15 x 3 inch instead of a 2.5?

Overkill, i went throught the same as you and went to the 15x2.5x163 on a 2008 XP that i had . The old 2.3 track verse the new 2.5x15 i would take the the new for the same reasons you have stated,(track rubbing on side of tunnel with 16 )

As far as performance i didn't see anything negative with the 15.

Don't think you can get a 3'' in 15 as you will have to cut down the 16'' with table saw. See a few people doing this . In the polaris section you can see the sled crisco is building that has been cut down.

Cheers

its all about fotprint and if ya do the math the 16 wide puts alot more track on the ground. running the HP you are with a 15 wide you'd notice alot more spinning rather then hooking. i had a problem with my track rubbing once. If your track has proper tension and alignment it shouldnt rub. my problem was that i ran the track too loose allowing it to float...
