propane never freezes, at -45F it will remain a liquid and you could pour it without any vapours.

At atmospheric pressure, the boiling point of propane is -44°F. At any temperature below that, a pool of propane will remain in liquid form, because its vapor pressure is less than atmospheric.

Same as the bbq regulator that buzzes is from liquid in it and cold

Definitely second the snoop recommendation. We use it to check air/gas lines at work since we are in a 60 year old plant and are working to get all our lines in good working order to prevent waste.

at work we have started using infrared cameras, the leaks are easily found, I am sure you have those at the fire hall, make a test leak with a bbq and see if you can see the vapours with it

play with the light spectrum the camera sees and you should find one that will see the propane....we can find leaks in minutes now that we couldn't find using traditional methods

Yes similar. And price too

Regulator will vent sometimes, come and go if bad

Allways make sure for winter that u run the stove burner to empty the lines out

Otherwise the liquid propane freezes and can screw up the regulator

What tex said about the regulator but its not propane that freezes its condensation that freezes and since they are just crimped they will leak i have changed a couple that did that in the spring 1 one mine 1 on a friends

It's more for carbon monoxide, but if the ratio of propane and air is high enough it won't go off, but yet could still blow up

Joel and myself figure what you said regulators venting too much.

It will be replaced tomorrow
